I swear for once can I receive cuts that survive? Everything looks fine once I open the packages up, but 1-2 horus later they start turning brown and wilting hard every single time.. I just received Gelato and Thin Mint Rooted Cuts, and it only took 2-2 1/2 days to get to me. But they arent looking to good..

The reason your seeing this is from humidity/heat change when you open the package. Put them in something to keep the humidity high and acclimate slowly to the conditions in your area. You can also cut a small slit in the bag thee in to let them cool slow. Cuttings in the mail get super hot. humidity will also go up high to 100%. When u open the package your shocking them from such a drastic change in environment.

Thats exactly what happened to my sfvs.
I tried spraying them and sat them under a dome, but they still slowly shriveled.

Maybe open the package underwater, then humidome them?

Just tossing out ideas.

The water bottle tech has been perfect tho.

Thats what I thought and the other 4 people who tried sending me cuts before this most recent time.. The previous times they werent rooted but did the same thing once opened. They where shipped in plastic water bottles, and Red Solo Cups taped together.. They always had wet paper towels taped to the bottoms where they where cut.

This time was the onlytime they where rooted though.. They came in A plastic container with an LED light that stayed on.. I wouldve though 2 1/2 - 3 days wouldve been perfectly enought oget acclimated.. The container was slightly open the entire time when I had the cover on and they stayed alive like that..

So I would open up the container fully every 3-4 hours at first for about 15minutes at A time, I also Did A super light mist above them only the 1st day I received them.. The 2nd day to 3rd day I would open the container up every 2-3 hours for 20-30minutes at A time, and I would mist the container 3-5minutes before closing it up again..

So they looked fine and perked up A little bit from drooping majorly the 1st day I opened it cause I left it open thinking I was all good..

But I guess that wasnt long enough because I opened it up and left it open per instructions from Sender and they died in under 8 hours.. I wouldve put the container back on if I saw them drooping but I left the house..

Heres what they looked like on the very first day after I opened it and left it open for about 4-6hours.

This next picture is what they looked like on the 2nd day after having to recover from the damage on the first day.

You should always take your time getting them acclimated. The slower the better. Its a huge shock shipping cuts in Summer. I have had cuts arrive in a mushy state from heat and the stench was horrid.

Next time just open the box and leave them to cool for at least 6hrs longer if possible. Then open the bag slowly over time. After cooling I put new cuts in a dome Misted with RO. They stay in here for a few weeks to make sure they dont have anything there not suppose to. in 2 weeks RH is low enough to take them out and transplant..

The best option is to only get cuts shipped to you in winter. They do much better in cold. If its to cold u can use heat packs or wait until its not so cold. You wont have any heat issues. You will still have RH issues and need to let that stabilize slowly over time.

In summer its a pita... Best to wait but is possible. I live in one of the hottest places possible. To send cuts in 110+ you need to root the cut well n replant into a cup of soil or coco, then let it establish roots once the roots are established you double up the cups tape vac seal n send... This will get you 99% success. Shit happens n you may have to top or bend the the clone to fit the cup over top...

I have read about being a good thing to send them unrooted while in a ziplock/vacuum bag. I think you have to suck out most of the air to make the method effective. The absence of air prevents the moisture in the cutting from getting evaporated into it's environment. So it stays fresh and healthy much longer.
At arrival I would give them a glass of water for a few hours before proceeding with the rooting process.
Never did it though, so can't back it up really.

This method should work without extra moisture, just the plain fresh cutting in a evacuated zip lock bag and that bag in a VHS tape box. Cooling pads in the package is a good idea. Best thing to encapsulate all this in a thermo box but make sure the cooling pads have no direct contact to the cut so it gets not burnt from the ice. And make a new cut in the stem before rooting so let the cut get sent to you with one or two nodes more than neccessary.

Just got the 2nd batch that Was sent on monday later afternoon. Just got it today early afternoon on Wednesday.. He made 3 Slices into the container, but the LED he puts in was turned off for some reason.

This is what they looked like after putting the container in A cool room for 2 1/2-3 hours and then opening it up to put A hygrometer inside of it.

Right now the temp is 84degrees F, and 96% humidty.

Looks ok to me. Just keep the RH up let it drop over the next week they should be fine. Any cut will be stressed when u get them.

yes they died on the 3rd day after I got them. But I just got the 2nd batch of Thin Mint and Gelato33. Only 2 rooted cuts of each.

Hammerhead alright.. My Caliber Hygrometer keeps going up to 100% humidty. Even when I let the air out for A couple of minutes but A maximum of 5 minutes..

Does it matter if the bunches of roots coming out arent white? I decided to look at them when I first got them since the Roots coming out at the top where soft and tannish colored. But even the bottom ones are on the softer side and are tan looking..

Also one of the Gelato cuts has 2 tops, do you think it would be A good idea to try and clone one of the tops? It would make that cut work less right?

Next time you receive unrooted cuts, as soon as you open the package, lightly run them under the cold tap for 30 seconds to a minute, make sure your gentle though. Then place the cuts in a cup of cold water and put them inside the fridge for around 20 - 30 minutes, then make the clones and put them in a propagator. In my experience it really makes them perk back up, ive been able to make cuts out of branches that have been in the bin for a few days using this method.

I dont use Caliber Hygrometers in the grow rooms those are meant for humidors. I use this unit. None of these are very accurate. This unit can be purchased whit NIST certificate if you want it. .

The RH will keep going up when u reseal the bag or dome. U gotta slightly open it and leave it to equalize. Pay no attention to the haters. Rooted/unrrooted all will be stressed when u get them. Most prefer unrooted because it limits the chase of getting unwanted critters in the medium. But you should isolate all cuts regardless. I get both rooted/unrooted. IMO odds of survival are improved with rooted cuts.. I have lost more unrooted then rooted. The heat is a killer.

As for roots. I put all rooted cuts into medium the same day I get them. Then put into a dome to site for a few weeks while they root well.. I dont pay any attention to roots on the cutting. Do inspect well for anything and make sure when you open the bag it doesn't smell of rot or death.

Do not take a cutting from that. You have to wait until its back in good shape and well rooted.
