Nice pics 5LG. Trainwreck does not smell like lemon. Maybe S1s or some other knock offs do, but the real tw has a very distict rotten smell.

thats one thing that was very noticeable in the TW cut i had brit- the stalk was so weak it couldnt support itself. lets see if i can find a pic. notice none of the buds are standing straight up and down!!!!

The guy who did the Woodhorse version is on icmag, can;t remember his handle. I think he crossed the Arcata cut to a recessive Afghan male then did several backcrosses and some linebreeding, whatever he did, that line is friggin killer.

I only had one male, so those seeds are a mix of the seeds from the Oranges/Limes pheno (the one with the autumn colours) and the Lemon pheno, I didn't pollinate the Arcata pheno as the lemon one was identical apart from the nanners and I don't like the idea of using a plant that expresses an intersex trait.

Goat, that pheno #1 looks awesome, and that is why I get so annoyed at GHS misrepresenting strain names, what is wrong with telling the truth, clearly that isn't pure Trainwreck, maybe a hybrid, why can't they tell us that? I mean, real, pure TW has a few drawbacks - big stretch, lowish yield, very weak stems, and quite clearly, that pheno you have their hasn't got those issues, so surely it would be better for GHS to tell the truth and if that is a TW hybrid you have their, they should tell us so and explain why they hybridised it and what differences there are from the original cut, in this case, if they have improved on the TW's drawbacks, that is a marketing point, but they can only use it as such is they tell the truth in the first place!

But that's nowt to do with Goat and his great work with those plants, well done mate, you can be justly proud of those pics! Look forward to seeing your smoke report, see if it has a TW high and taste. Fingers crossed she smokes as good as she looks!

I agree. GHS should have named the strain something other than Trainwreck, especially if it doesnt represent the real thing. I think they could have named it something else and saved themselves alot of negative feedback. Although, they prob. would not have sold as many packs as they have under a different name.

Anyhow, they are turning out to be very kind plants. If I'm impressed with the smoke, I'll definitely run these again......TW or not.

I've never heard TW described as rotten smelling before, but I've heard many say she is lemony, perhaps it's down to grow style and environment, but to me, it should be lemony with catpiss tones. I preferred the pheno that was a bit fruitier - more oranges tand limes than lemons that had been pissed on by a cat.

Hiya subrob, my TW was also floppy like you describe, if you look at this pic, you can see the bend in her cola, if it wasn't for the stake she is tied to holding her upright, she would be lying flat on the floor. I remember when I undid the ties to begin trimming and harvesting, the cola just flopped flat on the ground, she just hasn't got the strength in the stems to stand upright.

If it weren't for the superb end product, she wouldn't be worth growing with the floppy weak stems, lowish yield and big stretch.

I really want a smoke report for this one. The smell you describe is spot on trainwreck. It does not have the distinctive leaf characteristics that the woodhorse version and the clones have. Also like many people said the yield is very low, very viney sativa structure, and tiny stems that devinately need to be staked or will else snap. Looks like they crossed it with another sativa looking at the leaves or you just got the recessive pheno because the large indica leaf is a dominant trait. Trainwreck seemed really couchlock me all the time, but was definately a very cerebral high. Your eyes get very very relaxed which is why I think alot of med patients like it. If the smoke report is good I am buying some as soon as they come back in stock. TW is in my fav 5 for sure.

Thought I'd share a little more detail with regards to the grow...quickly.

I germed the seeds using the paper towel method which I've done sucessfully many times before. Germ rate was 4/5... They were then planted in dixie cups to sprout under 2 x 4ft shop flouros. All 4 sprouted nicely with no runts. Once they filled the dixie cups they were transplanted to 1gal pots and moved under the 400W MH. They were then finally transplanted to 5gal buckets approx. 2 weeks before flowering began for a total veg time of 35-40 days. They are alongside 4 Red Diesels of the same age under 2 x 400W HPS. Currently at 54 days flower.

Smoke report

Smoke report

After a one week cure, I am fairly impressed with the smoke from the GHS Trainwreck. I smoked a few joints of the spicey diesel-ish smelling pheno already, and it definitely had me toasted after 5 pulls. It was a fairly "up" high and pretty smooth for just one weeks cure. It wasnt as intense and speedy as the Trainwreck clone smoke, but it is definitely something i would pay for again.

I'm gonna try the nasty smelling pheno next week.

The pic i posted was of the nasty smelling pheno. It looks alot like your pheno #1. It smelled nicer on the plant... after the chop, the spicey turned to nasty. When are you goin to start your flush?? I flushed for 2 weeks...
