Getting Water To Your Guerrilla Site...Any tips??

Unless you plan on using this grow site forever spending the hours and hours it will take to run irrigation lines may not be worth it. Someone already mentioned this but since you are from WI finding a location near a swamp, marsh or lowlands should be possible. Once you have a location where you dont have to water you will love it.

In my opinion carrying water can be the thing that most effects security.

I have used grow locations for several years but usually move every couple of years. Unless discovered i will go back to locations I once used, sort of like crop rotation, but the problem with using the same grow location year after year is your odds keeping getting better of getting discovered each year. There are exceptions to every rule but just keep that in mind.

WI is one of if not the hunting and fishing capital of the US. The whole damn state closes down during deer season so it might be wise to find a few locations.

Listen to everyone and find the things that work for you. No one opinion or person has all the answers. Good luck to you.

us hunters are everywhere...... electric pumps rule.. if you can run you lines up hill a bit then slope down gravity will assist after pump primes line.... I have ran hundreds of feet of poly lines.....peace

Didn't think an electric pump would have enough strength to pump far especially run off a battery, but then I have never used one.
Good if they do, but then you have to lug the battery in and out I suppose, I mean you wouldn't want to have to leave a solar panel set up by the stream to to recharge the battery while you weren't there.

I used to use a small gas powered pump which you could fit into a backpack; good for pumping short distances and over short distances you could set the speed just above idle and it was pretty quiet, but if you were pumping up hill or a longer distance you had to give it a few revs and it would make some noise.

One way to minimise that was to dig a hole next to the stream and put the pump in there after you started it up, this cut the noise by about 50%, but even though it wasn't that noisy noise carries a long way in the quiet forest.
Especially on the banks of a stream, because the noise tends to travel along the stream.

One thing I used to worry about is that after watering the grow and I went back to the pump I would find someone (leo) standing next to the pump!
But it pumped a lot of water so it didn't take that long to water the plants, so it wasn't on for that long at a time.

Gas pumps are good, no fucking around with batteries, reliable, and pump a lot of water, way better than endless trips with buckets in the middle of summer, and you only do two trips to the water source when you are watering your plants, one to set it up and one to remove it, therefore no trails.

The only downside is the noise.
Growing close to civilisation or in an area other people frequent on a regular basis it could be a problem, although you can minimise that by going very early in the morning when hopefully no-one will be around, but having said that I have found that out in the forest you never truly know who's around, whatever time you go there.

I have found that hobo's living in the forest can be the worst, as they are there all the time, and will get to see you coming and going on a regular basis because they are there all the time, and if they think you are growing out there some of them will go looking for your grow, and because they live out there they have plenty of time to go looking for grows, unlike people who work or have to travel to the area, they will not be able to get out there much.

My biggest nightmare would be standing in the middle of the grow, garden hose in hand while I hear the pump purring away back at the water source.
Then the pump suddenly stops.
I walk back to see what's going on with the pump and find leo standing next to it, they have turned it off and are waiting for me to come and find out why the pump stopped.

Why you don't grow? You just troll weed sites for some kind of thrill.

And your biggest nightmare should concern the ceiling people and them releasing video of their deviant rituals preformed upon your sleeping soul.

What a marooooon

Great suggestions i have also left 2 lliter bottles of water near the plant with a small hole in the bottle.Rain catchers tarps all work but must be camoflouged.Google brown dirt warrior. He is the king. Many different ways of setting up pumps. But like others have stated growing near water is dangerous.Water equals people animals etc.I thought featherfoot brung up a couple good points.

Im gonna do some outdoor growing closer to home and lug water back and forth,I will also set up tarps and rain barrells.I live close to an air force base.Jets flying over all day and night so im not concerned about leo.Im gonna plant around 4/20 with 12 inch clones in ammended holes lined with trash bags.

Ok featherfootfan. Let's skip him for a sec ok?
What are you amending your holes with?
Is Leo your only concern?
No one on an air force looks down?

Now for NOG (featherfoot)
Guerilla means stealth. Everything he posted is in conflict with stealth. Noisey? Shiny? Garbage everywhere?
Digging holes next to streams? We call those 'waterholes'.
He gets banned because his input is dangerous.

Growing outdoors in a non-med state is always a gamble. I don't care how stealthy you are, things can always go wrong. I do guerilla grows every year. Find a swamp and grow right on the edge of it. Then you can dip 5 gallon pails in the swamp all day everyday and never have to worry about water. get some hunter green spray paint and paint your water bucket and hide it in the deep swamp grass.
Another option, which I have also done, is grow big balls of steel and run a water hose. With minimal digging you can bury a hose to where no one can see it. Then all you gotta do is hide the end where water comes out in some brush and your all set. I think one year I had 150-200 ft. of hose running to the plants. It was a good year that season, I think like 15 pounds good........ I documented last years grow on this site. Check it out by searching for "Guerilla in the Swamp '13".

paladin calm down dude. Why the hostility?I just said what i planned on doing.I havent decided fully what to do yet.just planning. I may mimmick brown dirt warrior.

Either way im sure the op of the thread has gotten what he needs. Why pick apart my post? All i said is i thought he had some good ideas. If you didnt thats fine.Calm down your trolling this guy and being worse the he is.The point of the post is to gather opinions.Lets be grown ups.

Paladin leo is my only concern. If someone finds it and steals it i will learn from it.Furthermore the base that im near runs jets all day long that make my house shake.Im sure at the speed and elevation they are at they arent peeking out of thier cockpit window at mach whatever for weed plants.I have never seen any other air traffic even remotely close..This base is a training facility for jet pilots.

If the locals wanna do flyovers to look for cannabis they would have to shut down the air force base.Because all day and night flights are being made..I also live in a very rural area.

Sounds very familiar.
Your post and technique is solid. I always paint my buckets but usually burry them also. I can then put my sprayer in side the buckets and cover them with native vegetation.

That was until I got the courage not to water. If you are growing near lowlands or a swamp in my experience there is no need to water at all. Unless you are using water soluble ferts. I used to do that but went to slow release.

I have never had a spot that I could run a pump without noise affecting security. The less I'm at the spot the less I have to worry about someone finding my plot. If they do I'm not there.

My two cents I cant argue with your success:tiphat:

I love taking care of my plants too much to do a set and forget. I have a nice piece of land to grow on. It's like 25 miles from where I live and the owner lets me use his swamp because I pay him. He can't grow or move product so it's free money for him and he loves it. I love being able to take care of my plants every day or every other day and not have to worry about being seen. I have another spot thats right in my buddies back yard. We are gonna rock that spot this year.

True.

"Sir, why are you walking through the forest carrying buckets of water ?"

"Why, to build up my biceps and triceps, and my shoulders."

"Ah, yes, of course."

I used to fit 2 or 3 1 gallon bottles of water, using a 1 gallon GH container, into a small backpack. That looks very non-suspicious.

Also, there are some 5 gallon water containers that just exactly fit into a backpack. That results in a bigger looking backpack, again not too much of a give-away.

5 gallons goes a long way for a guerilla grow.

If you have a stealth technique for delivering water, you can service more than one grow site.

Then you just have to worry about 4 legged critters. And fly-overs.

One other tip.
String cotton, olive green is a good colour, around your grow site.
When you go to your site first thing check if the cotton is broken.
This will tell you if someone has been to your grow.
If you find it broken string it up again and see if it gets broken again.
This will tell you that you have a regular visitor to your grow.
If so then harvest early.
Saved me one time. After finding the cotton broken I checked on the spot more often, and actually caught the ripper about to harvest my plants.

Very good tip but set it high enough so critters deer etc do not break it . If you can do some prep work think about digging a hole big enough for a barrel or lined with a waterproof lining , use a camo net to hide any visible signs & spend a couple of nights backpacking the water in , it will cut down your time when the plants are in growth . Water crystals are great but WET them before you add to holes , if you can find a paper shredder shred up some newspaper as they are a great addition to compost & hold a lot of water , also think about a piece of poly cut to fit around plant stem then covered with some dirt etc , this will also trap moisture .

I guess one other guerilla sort-of technique is to use plants that are exceptional in their rooting ability.

For me the Total Complete All-star in this respect was not a cannabis plant, but a Brussel Sprout plant. WITH ZERO WATERING these beast-plants grew from seedlings to 4 feet tall, 3 feet wide, mutant motherf'ers. In the hot sun (100 degrees) in Sonoma County. I think that particular plant absorbed moisture from the air, otherwise she should have been dead. I got about 10,000 seeds from a brussel sprout plant that I bred myself (if you can call experimenting with food plants breeding ?) and I really like those mutant brussel sprouts.

OK, going back to the subject of guerilla, occasionally a Cannabis plant will stand out from the crowd and be an exceptional rooter. If you plant a variety of strains in a guerilla grow, they will self-select - the ones that root the best will grow the best, if they have to fend for themselves a lot.

It (rooting vigor) is a particular form of plant vigor, sometimes separate from growing big and tall above the soil.

For example, when I grew Federation Romulan, one of them stood out as a Vigorous Rooter and I named her, "Rooter Rom". Not my favorite, "Playdough Rom" was by far my favorite.

But that affinity for rooting that the one Fed. Rom. phenotype displayed is what you want for a guerilla grow.
