A good "appraiser" will want access to every inch of the house; they wont do the appraisal otherwise. And it doesn't matter whether you hired them or not.

Also appraisers are a licensed profession, and I would suspect that while an extreme few would turn a blind eye to a plant or two, I wouldn't risk my liberty on someone elses cooleness. They wouldn't want any risk of impropriety.

And USPAP is just "a guide" in the real world.
