Getting a Michigan Medical Liscense & then Moving to Onario - Will it transfer?

Hey everyone,
Next year I am moving to Ontario and am wondering if my medical liscense would transfer.

I am not a canadian citizen so from what I understand it will be incredibly hard if not impossible for me to get a MMJ card until I become a citizen.
If I am legal in Michigan will this help the process or will it transfer over?

Thanks ic!

With my limited experience moving from CA to TX, I don't think it will transfer. In fact I promise you it won't transfer. Every state (and country) has different standards for licensing MMJ.

Good luck though! Ontario is pretty liberal, I wouldn't be surprised if you found a doc there that would help you out.

The problem is that I won't be a canadian resident making it harder to get the liscense..
If anyone from Ontario has any advice on that it would be greatly appreciated :D

Hahah well in that case I'm glad a Mod moved this to the Canadian section..
Thanks :D

I can tell you with 100% certainty.. NO it will not transfer becuase Amercian federal or state law does not apply in Canada.

It does not prevent you from applying for your Canadian exemption if you are a landed immigrant. Again... landed immigrant. You need to have legal status.

Alright.. Thanks for clearing that up!

What do you mean by a landed immigrant? I will be in Canada on a student visa and will be going to University full time in Ontario. Is this good enough?
Any more advice?

Hmmm... You will have to check the regulations on student visas as they are not requests for pernament residence in Canada from an immigrant (landed immigrant)

Here is the link: http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/dhp-mps/marihuana/index-eng.php

I suggest you read it very carefully.

WOO!
I just called health canada (why don't I just call more often..?) and found out that you do NOT have to be a permanent resident of Canada. As long as I am a resident living in Canada I can apply.
Now I just need a doctor to sign for me! :D

I believe Treating Yourself has a listing of cannabis friendly doctors.

Marco can correct me on that if I am incorrect.

I searched TY and can't seem to find anything. They have a medical forum but it's very inactive and nothign specifically related to Ontario.

Inactive LOL you got to be kidding!

Hmm.. From my view it says that there are less than 10 posts under each state.. and nothing on Canada!

Maybe this is because I am not a registered user there?
I will register and see if that helps..

no, but it will help you gain access to mmar with respect to a doctor knowing you use and have been licensed already, d

Yea even though I'm moving out of Michigan, I just found a doc and organization yesterday that should help me get my MI MMJ card.
I feel that with this card, it'd be much easier to convince Canada to let me get one there :D

Dont want to burst your bubble but its very hard to get an
MMAR here in Canada.
Not as easy as it might look at all.
U.S.A. cards are not transferable at all in Canada.

its is difficult getting into the MMAR prgram and licenses are not tranferrable to other countries
It is federal so you can grow anywhere in canada from BC to NFLD

It depends if you are applying to grow for yourself or for someone else.

If you are applying for yourself then you do not need to do a criminal records check. If you are applying to become a designated grower to grow for patients then you have to have a 10 year perfect criminal records check for drugs and trafficking.
You can get this done at any R.C.M.P outlet or O.P.P office closest to you. There is a $40 fee.

Then you need two passport photos that are not older than 3 months. If you are applying for yourself only then these are held for 5 years without needing updating but as a DG they need to be done each and every year along with the police check.
It becomes a real pain after a while but is well worth it.

Also a big difference between our countries is that we do NOT have doctor referral lists like you people do. We have a federal health care system as well as provincial so that doctors appointments are paid for by the government.
This means that these doctors are protected by the system.
Finding MMJ friendly doctors here is probably the MOST difficult obstacle but there certainly are a few.
I can give you a couple of references via pm if you need one but it probably will be a long wait and I also do not know how long you have to wait to become a Ontario citizen. This I'd seriously look into first.
Never mind: I saw that you did check first.
Calling them for answers is usually a good idea...lol

Good luck to you.
I love Ontario Canada:tiphat:

Even our provincial anthem is:

How long it took me to get my license?
Once I found the patient I wanted to grow for - 8 weeks in total

Give us a place to stan-n-n-n-d!
and a place to gro-o-o-o-w

YES!
