GETTIN RID OF USED DIRT

I had this problem too, until my father wanted a fruit and veggie garden :) so I spent a month chopping trees and digging up shrubs and bushes, and disposing of several tons of decorative river rock (that stuff sucks) I then re-landscaped his entire backyard, and amended his soil with all my old soil, now he has a kick ass garden throwing out some killer fruit and vegetable yields.

Muleskinner, I usually start flowering in 20oz cups and the ladies go up to quarts or sometimes gallons if they're huge. masterKahn, I use much less total dirt than people who use the big pots. Here's a couple pics;

this quart pot almost couldn't stand up even wet

Here's a Cherry Bomb in a gallon clay pot, check those monkey fists..

Wow, you are the man! I've got enough experience to know that you must have everything tweaked perfectly to get huge buds like that out of a 1-quart container. Nice job

Look for dumpsters that are near office buildings or smaller shopping centers. The ones further from security lights and parking lot lights work very well. I always transport new or used dirt in cheap 18 gallon rubbermaids. They are heavy as a mother, but I make one dump and I'm all set.

depending on yer grow size this might work. just put used soil in bags from grocery stores - those small plastic ones with the built in handles. double or triple bag it. you can grab these bags by the handful from self checkout lanes.

then take those bags (i usually use a gym duffle bag to transport them all) and drop them off at random gas stations, convenience stores, or whereever you would normally get rid of small bags of trash from your car. just act like everyone esle who is dumping old fast food bags. blend in.

also if you know anyone living in high rise apartments take your bags with you when you visit. then dump them in the trash chutes that are on every level. so long as there are no receipts or anything else that could id you in the bag, then they just blend in with the other trash.

Idea I like that. I think that may be the answer for me. Just don't like the thought of having some big bag that I am dumping in some random trash bin. To me that looks mad suspicious. Thanks for all the feedback people. The Ghost appreciates it.

Just get a big compost bin & dump in that with all your food scraps & fill with worms, if your in a apartment complex, unit's etc

Get a community project started for all the complex to use the same bin, then it wont look suss using it all the time & in a few months you will have the BEST compost & worm castings money can buy!

That's why a lot of guys switched to hygromite or hydroton, it's a bitch to weash but you only have to buy it once, and nothing to dispose of but some roots and the RW starter cubes.

I usually eat my used dirt. Just keep it in the kitchen pantry and grab a handfull or two when I'm a bit hungry between meals. Takes a few weeks... but, then it's gone. :biglaugh:

Not meaning to highjack thread but what do you do with used coco? Can it be reused? I am gettng ready for a first run with coco and just wondering. I assume you just added it in a compost bin and recycle outside?

I've got an extra bathroom in my place and I've gotta say I've been trying to figure out how to turn the commode into a hydroponics unit. Seems to have everything needed for a nice run to waste system. Is there anything such as a automatic toilet flushing device that I could set up on a timer? I only mention it because the picture above made me start thinking about it again.

Hey man I have heard I think it was Pharmacan that may have mentioned it.
The easy way woud be to remove the toilet, leaves the water line,and a big as drain hole. I think, sorry no link, I think he had just mentioned it on someone else's thread a while back, but once the toilet is out, I would think that it would be pretty ideal for that.
