Gettin Dirty - 4 plants, 40 days of flower, and 1 1000w MH

Whats going on fellas?

I figured today was a good day to take some pictures and post them for all my friends at icmag to see. What I have here are 3 juicy fruits from seed and one Northern Light clone (from a previous grow). Today marks their 40th day anniversary since going under 12/12. The light is a 1000 watt metal halide... why MH you might ask? I say, why not? Everyone has been saying HPS is the best way to flower so I decided to run my own experiment. So far everything is looking beautiful, the only real knock (which really could go either way) on the MH is that stretching has been pretty much non existent. They're almost the exact same height they were 40 days ago. Other than that though the buds are big and dense as hell.

Also, as you can kind of make out in the last picture i've got myself a pink pistil phenotype :headbange Do these tend to stay pink? or do the just turn orange like the rest?

I'll be updating as much as I can in the upcoming weeks. Feel free to post comments questions and suggestions.

I'm thinking of starting a MH grow but i wanted plants double your size. What are you yielding with a 1000MH? Maybe the buds make up for height with density.

Very nice looking plants!

Thanks, Im not exactly sure what kind of yields to expect since this is my first time running this setup. If I had to guess Id say about 2 ounces per plant. I'll let you know in a few weeks for sure though.

Try LST'ing them next run and see if you can increase your yeilds with that short compact growth thats so typical of MH lights.

Thanks for the input Mackawber. Actually, for the next grow im going to rewire my MH ballast, add in an ignitor, and switch out the bulb for an HPS. I wanna see the full potential of a 1000w light. :pimp3:

or just learn to grow more efficiently....co2 supplementation is over rated...more plants under that light or veg longer....your plants look great thread starter but you have to veg longer or pack more of them in there...i have a dozen plants double that size under 1600 watts...mh will make a more potent dense bud but yield is sacrificed......peace

Update

The girls have been chopped down. We netted a little under 5oz for the 3 plants, not too bad (next time will be better). They turned out really nice though, heres a few pictures:

nevermind, for some reason I cant upload the files. i'll try again later.

is anybody else having trouble posting pictures? I keep on getting error messages even though I tried resizing a dozen times and using different file formats. :cuss:

Hey Dirty! :D
Brain Said it, you just have to optimize it and get much more with the same time, same elec bill and a little more work!
Respectable plants! hehe
Cheers mate! :D

I like the no-stretch aspect you mentioned.

To be honest with you, I can't tell the difference based on your pictures. They don't look like they want of anything.

hmm nice but i got a question?

nice grow and i like the fact its completely MH. thats pretty good if theres no stretch for those of us who dont have much head room to work with. definitely something i wouldnt mind trying. has anyone ever used high wattage CFL's to flower with? and if so what were the results?

Thats some good looking NL you grew. I just started some Norther Lights as well but I use a T5 light for vegging and flowering. Give us a smoke report ASAP.
