Genetic Communication and Manipulation between plants.

This is a real interesting topic, there could be so many variations. It's like the same theory as a cover crop when it comes to the nettles. One year we had almost an infestation of tiny nettle plants, that was a very good year, when I think about it!
There's alot to speculate about when it comes to how the soil is affected. Whether you can grow companion plants as you do with vegetables would be a good research topic. I learned a hard lesson this year with having tomato plants too close. The tomatoes never turned red & the plants near them were shorter than the rest. Ended up taking out the tomatoes & flushing the soil really good. So my advice is to just make sure the companion doesn't turn into a leach!

I have seen this with some strains, as they got very mature, like a year and over from the seed plant, and I reckon mostly it is a maturity and health factor. But they are aware of each other and who knows what the effects could be. I have seen a room of hungry virgins where one bitch goes butch and tries to make pollen, just like a switch was thrown, none of the rest did it, just the queen bitch.

This week I am pruning at 10s day into bloom, and removing hand leaves so that the girls do not touch, to see if they get bigger, and if that carries on through bloom.

One of my gals, a sweet tooth / widow cross, was making a huge main cola bud, and it would get moldy inside, before harvest, even with a fan right on it, had to toss these big beautiful flowers. so I started taking the top off when I switched to bloom, and now it always grows that way, no dominant cola, just like it learned.

I've heard it said, that there are certain environment triggers, that can make a plant express certain hidden or supressed traits, it wouldn't normally. Scent and proximity, may well have an influence, especially between 2 competing strains of cannabis.
