What do you mean we cant tell how good of a plant it is from the picture? It is an auto flower, and the only runt from 10 seeds. This is not a case of flowering to early or anything like that as it is an auto, I dont understand what you mean when you say your auto flowers are small because you started them late outside....its not like they would start flowering any faster in the fall then any other time of year so as long as the weather was ok for it to finish i dont get what you are saying? Is it because the days are shorter in the fall so they dont have as many hours of direct light? that plant the OP posted is just a misfit runt. I have grown auto's and came across these runts...they are worthless plants that never get more than an inch tall and take just as long (if not longer) to flower there .3 of bud as a normall auto does to grow to a few feet and yeild an ounce. I would never do a seed crop with a stupid plant like that...but to each his own.

less light equals smaller plants, it's fall and the days are just super short therefore they just don't get a huge amount of light and do not get super huge!

i've got over 60 plants right now that i'm doing a seed run with and they all are about the size of op's "runt" and it's 100% due to the fact that they are getting hardly any light at all with the short days

now back to op, yeah it's the smallest out of 10, and the only male. that does not mean all subsequent generations will be runts!

let's say the runt gene is dominant, he has a 50% chance of getting non runt offspring. if he selects just that 50% to get the next generation then he'll get 100% non runts...if he wanted to put in a little bit of time and effort it wouldn't be too big of a deal to get rid of runts in a few generations. if this is the only male he has to work with, imho this is not a bad option

...personally, i could see use and worth with an all run trait strain, if i were to have thousands upon thousands of those seeds...imagine if you will, a small guerilla patch of thousands of 6" plants with just a little 1/2 ~ 2g poof ball bud right on top...i am not selecting for runts in my own breeding plans, but i can see a use and worth for something like that, i'd never call it useless

it all depends on the goals of the breeder/pollen chucker imho

Any "elite" strain started out with "lesser" quality plant; maybe not that bad but the point remains:comfort:.
If you pollinate with that little guy and are careful with future generations you should be sound ("fine").
Remember Napolean was a runt and he conquered Europe... twice.

GOOD NEWS! I had a male pop up from another seed i started later! :) its a super strong male and amazing colors. On a darker note i did get a hermi. lol

Just have to place a comment that i think it has nothing to do with your setup when you get those really tiny AFs. I have had them popping up under OPTIMUM circumstances and they just start flowering when they are really really tiny, it seems like they have no vegging period at all. I've had tens and tens of mini autos with many auto strains and in many kind of circumstances, both males and females, maybe mini-females more than mini-males i think...
Never used these mini-phenos for making seeds because i think the mini-genetics would be much stronger on the next generation of seeds ending up getting more and more these useless mini-phenos. It is possible to get those mini-genetics so strong that you wont get any plant taller than 30cm. Few years ago I had a 10-pack of Lowryder (originally from Joint Doc) beans that were inbreed in finnish summer couple a times and all the beans that popped up started flowering immediately and grew only like 15-20cm tops... So i had like 5 nice mini-females that gave me 2 grams or something for smoke. :D

So I definately recommend NOT to use these mini-genetics for making seeds, because it will end up to smaller plants. Autos are so small even when used the biggest and best parents so you should try to make next generation grow even bigger, not smaller.

The thing with auto's is they are real easy to runt out so it might not be genetics as the reason op's is small. Nute burn them, under /over water them real bad and they will do that. I have runts like that I'm doing seed with, I fucked up 30, so I took the best looking 6 or 7 and threw them in a closet with no ventilation and a cfl that I accidentally left off for the first week, only one of them was a male and I have no qualms about using his pollen for a seed run.
