Cindy's Monkey (I like that name hah) is looking nice, and the light deps are looking great. I love the purple tinges, frosty and really pretty. Got any shots of the plants themselves? Just a nice little warm up and preview of whats to come! When abouts do you think on average stuff will start showing signs of flowering for you?
growbig, the dep is a scrog-type affair, albeit with untopped seed plants. It's also a single large bed. It's not the prettiest, but I'll throw up a photo so you can see what I mean.
As for the start of flowering, the short answer is I'm not sure. Of all the plants in the garden this year only the Blue Dream and U2 are repeats. The rest are crosses I've made. That said, the other C99 x Monkey Haze f1s I've grown all initiated flowering quickly and early, so my money would be on the Cindy's Monkey to show first, at least among seed plants.
The dep has me worried.
I had a small G13xWW in there to check it out and several days ago I noticed rapidly maturing seeds in it. I pulled the thing immediately but perhaps the damage is done. I have just found a seed on a U2 Monkey Haze f2, so I took the bud to look through it.
Even worse than getting mature seeds is getting tons of immature ones that are too small to pick out but make it taste like you're smoking seeds!
Here's hoping everything's OK. At the least I'm making backups of many of these plants for future use.
What pollinated em? Did a plant throw nanners? I've had some good surprises before with unexpected pollen, but can take a long time to go thru and find the keeper.
The $64,000 question. I've found a few stray nanners here and there, promptly plucked 'em. Nothing looked like it was splooging (the technical term for dehiscence) or even close.
Funny thing is the G13 x WW would be the most suspect since I saw the seeds there first, but I didn't find any nanners there at all.
My assessment of the U2MH bud I picked is that it is definitely not very heavily seeded, and possibly not seeded beyond what I already found.
(Ironically that U2MH itself seems like a very good candidate for scrog light dep, with extremely dense golf balls on each branch.)
I dig your garden man. Just a beautiful spot. Love the monkeybar set up The plants look incredibly healthy.. very nice. Your light dep crop is very inspiring bro. Keep it up.
peace
Thanks for your visits and kind words, anon, SG, and SB.
SG, that Monkle 5 has been interesting...it took off early in flowering but has been overtaken in measure of beefiness by some of the others, especially the U2 MH.
Here's Monkle 5 a few days ago, at day 56. I'm hoping for some late frost on her but I already know she's stony from a sample I took some days ago.
A few of the U2 MH f2s have been really stacking up nice, making longer colas than anything else in the dep. I really like their combination of hues, too. They just look like they want to take their time...
