If you don't mind may I ask what the monkey is in these strains?
I ask as I got a cut of a local strain caled chocolate monkey paw and have vague info on it as grower we aquired it from dodges questions concerning it, why I don't know? Sorry to hijack

Thanks for the kind words, Veg.

FF, the "monkey" is from Monkey Haze a k a (Deep Chunk x Tom Hill Haze) f2. I don't have any idea if it's related to your Chocolate Monkey Paw.

Here are a few shots of the full-season garden.

This one of the U2 (Ewe-2, whatever) well illustrates the "skirt" trellising I've been doing:

This is one of three phenos of Blue Monkey Haze f2 I'm running:

your garden looks like a nice place to spend the day... very nice looking plants, mounds... cool cages and support setup! i like the look of all of them but the monkey haze f4 looks pretty interesting nice big long and skinny leaves but it looks pretty sturdy and branchy too.

Thanks to Tom Hill for releasing the Monkey Haze. Lots of potential, and no shortage of sturdy plants in there.

(Tho TH hisself says to look for a "creeper"-type pheno that can hardly hold itself up! The MH pictured does have Gumby-type stems to an extent.)

Edit: I sure like the vigor of seed plants, too.

High hopes for this U2 Monkey Haze f2...responds with vigor to water, sun, heat, foliar. Eventually those sharply-angled branches will form a nice spread tending toward a globe.

Love me some Jurassic DC fan leaves, as on this other pheno of the Monkey Haze f4:

Speaking of DC, it's only the great-great grandmother of this pheno of Blue Monkey Haze f2, but check out how influential it is:

Throwing lots of water on these plants the last few days.

Interesting strains for light dep. Have you tried these out before? Seems exciting either way. The full season looks slick! I love the staking! I'd love to find an alternate for remesh and hortinova to really make it clean. Keep up the good work. GCG

Thanks for stopping by and commenting, guys.

CGG, I ran the Monkle and U2 Monkey Haze in the dep last year, and they performed well, so I did them again, along with some f2s of the U2MH and a couple other crosses to try them out.

So partly the dep is for pheno hunting!

But I'm seeing that doing it right makes a big difference, there's some empty space where I pulled males (it's a bed about 20 x 7)...finding that pheno or those phenos it'd be nice to fill the dep with them.

"For myself, in a truly natural garden I have come to expect to see, hear, and find evidence of abundant vertebrate life. This, and this alone, reassures me that invertebrates still thrive there. I know of many farms where neither birds nor worms exist; and I suspect that their products are dangerous for all life forms."

(Bill Mollison, "Permaculture: A Designer's Manual")

This Cindy's Monkey (C99 x Monkey Haze) wants to get big. An open structure suits growing in the pines, where late-season moisture is a factor. With plants like this, I have found that vertical size contributes to good yields without too much plant density.

You just cant argue with the old addage, there is no replacement for displacement.
