Thanks. I don’t usually use these cups. I just had them around and had thrown out my usual small plastic pots in a fit of organization. I have some left in my garage and may use those up for veggies and I like the idea of giving the roots an escape route.Oldfogey8,
What you're doing is good. If you don't mind I will share a tip with you.
These manure cups don't degrade as fast as the seedlings will grow and the cause the roots to be bound for a time. By cutting the bottom out the roots can freely grow out the bottom of the cup in a closing conical way.
If you fill the cup first pressing in seedling mix before cutting the bottom out, then use the cup planting into the bottom of the manure cup. The roots will grow out the bottom in an expanding androtropic manner for even better seedling growth.
