One other thing. This is in a tent which I am using CO2 in. Weird thing once I started using it, they all seemed to be hovering around in the top of the tent trying to find a way out. Is it possible the high amounts of CO2 were driving them out from the base of the plants?

One grower reports 10,000 ppms for 24 hours i think it was will destroy the little beggers! I can believe that one, just make sure you wear scuba diving gear! lol!

If your that pissed with the Hydroton man, check out this interesting new substrate, its clean, light
& has all the properties of a good airy medium without all the hassle, been looking into using the stuff myself! Its Called stg-'HAIL' Here's the link:

Good Luck!

The STG products are a great rockwool replacement, but the problem with it, IMO, is it isn't reusable like the hydroton. For not much less cash than the equivilent amounts of hydroton. I'll wash a little hydroton to save the $300 per run. Thanks for the link. I'm all for anything that replaces rockwool!

just had a bout of fungus gnats in my tent, put up some fly strips and put sand on top of the pots. Growing in air pots, and the little buggers were coming from every hole, so i put tights around them. Seems to have worked, haven't seen one for about 10 days now, but i am slightly worried as the plants don't seem to have grown a great deal (6 weeks from germination) and the lowest fan leaves have gone yellow. Could the sand i added to the top of the pot be causing any problems? It's just playground/sandpit sand from my local garden center.
