Fungus gnats and ph question

I have noticed two fungus gnats near my plants in the last couple of days, the plants were overwatered 7 days ago but top soil has been dry for inches for a while now and plants I’m letting really dry out to prevent future gnats. Will set up sticky traps
Will diatomaceous earth work? Should I bomb the room? What should I do about the fungus gnats

My soil ph is at 9. I have ammonium sulfate that I can use, should I use a small amount? I initially watered these plants with tap that had ph or 9 but last few waterings have been with ph 6.6 and I’m flush ing a lot through without much success. Should I just keep watering with correct ph water, and wait for soil to become more acidic? What about vinegar? Best bet?

Thanks

Get some Mosquito Bites and use it every watering for a while. I don't bother skimming them out of the nute water.

How did the pH get to 9.0?

You need P guy. MAP will give P and lower ph.

Don't flip out and start trying to fix everything by changing everything. Seeing 2 gnats with one over-water is not a big problem. Just keep an eye on your yellow stickies and watch them closely and see how bad they are or become. Put your stickies everywhere you can because the gnats will fly into the stickie thinking it's home.

IF your plants look ok now, then leave the pH alone, or you can cause yourself a lot of problems. Putting ammonium sulfate on a plant is very drastic. Post a photo of the plant if you run into any problems before adding anything. You may have gotten a false pH reading. 😎

What kind of soil and what kind of water is used determine what the incoming water pH should be. 😎
