Now thats a new word for me ,
its the word for a binary cyclone system ,
apparently theres a possibility one of these rare weather events is brewing out off the coast of North Queensland,
i guess we need to stay vigilant and aware , warnings of biblical rain falls etc have been mentioned,

anyhow thought id open a thread so folks who are watching can chime in and share their experiences,
theres already been a lot of rain where i am , unlikely we will go under ,
because if we do , the rest of australia is in big trouble , we are at 925 metres altitude ,, lol ..
heres the clip that explains it for anyone interested ...

If you are in the direct path of the heavy rain/cyclone, I would stock up on drinking water and non-perishable food _immediately_. Remember you will also need water to flush the toilets if you lose power, so get some 5 gallon containers and fill them up now, so you can flush later.

Also make sure you have plenty of batteries and some sort of radio for communications, because if it gets bad and power goes out, your internet connection will quickly follow. Same thing with flashlights and/or an electric lantern.

Unfortunately, I have a lot of experience with floods and cyclones/hurricanes:

Wishing you nothing but the best Wally!!!! ✌️

hey mate ,
yea i did read most of your thread ,
and real sorry to hear about your dog ,
i love dogs , so hearing of such things is a bit of a tear jerker for me,

and yea man times are hard after disastrous weather events ,
ive been through a category 5 cyclone , 250 kmph winds ,
wow u havent heard wind until u hear and feel the force of that ,
sounded like being next to a jet engine it was so loud,

from what i noticed from what u said in your thread ,
the recovery is harder then the storm itself , well thats if one survives ,
but the depression i remember from just seeing the destruction day after day ,
really had an impact , plus it rained for about 6 months after it ,
ffs i got sick of hearing the sound of rain ...

there was a silver lining for me , there was no leafs or tree tops left where i was growing at the time,
so the crop following the cyclone was one of the best we saw , haha

anyhow , currently there is no drama with the cyclone pending ,
not sure whats happening , ill check later ,

many thanks for the support from you guys though ,
it means a lot ..

I hope you get spared,wally...that does not sound inviting at all.

How about our mate, is he up there too or has he left the country again?
If you hear from him, tell him I said hi please.
I think he changed his number, I can't get a hold of him anymore.

All the best and stay safe mate

ill give him your regards mate

the old fella needs to stay still a while and some work ... lol ..

You’ll be right Wally. Record late monsoon for Darwin, I’ll believe the Fujiwarha when I see it. It’s an often hyped event.
Strong MJO passes through this week then strangely returns in another week.
Gonna be wet and wet. I’m waiting for the black cockatoos to gather then ours will start.
A nice Gulf TC, right down the GDR to our neck of the woods please.
Enjoy it mate, stay safe, after last seasons +2000mm in 24 hours you’d be hard pressed to beat that.

All the best to you "down there"!

To be at the whim / mercy of the elements like that, fooking scary 😳

Do you have a shelter/bunker/safer place?
thanks Hasch,
yea my house has been through a severe storm and survived well ,
i think it would do it again no worries ,,
we try and keep all the big trees away from the house ,
i did that after the last big storm,

most of the folks around these parts are resiliant after seeing some pretty wild weather in the past,
while aussies tend to joke about serious stuff like this ,
they all know to prepare well and stay safe , we rarely loose anyone ,
the building codes are quite strict , so the houses will take some punishment generally ...

very true mate ,
noted the weather places tend to hype stuff up ,
like they somehow benefit from the sales of batteries and candles ,, lol ..

oh yea thats a lot of rain man ,
definitely hard to beat and i wouldnt want it at my place .. lol ...
ive got a few plants out but i reckon they will be ok ,
fingers firmly crossed of course ...
