From the UK and thinking about moving to America

It's always been my dream to live in California and I'm hoping to move there quick as I can. One thing what is required to have a green card to live in the U.S? Do you need any school qualifications because if I had to be honest with you I didn't really do well in school (personal issues and I wanted to pursue my dreams). I heard it's quite expensive to live there depending on the place. My current job is YouTube and I also own a website as well. On YouTube alone I make well over £100,000 so in dollars that's over $144,735 and I don't make as much on my website but it's a couple of extra thousands pounds I can add to it. Would I be able to live comfortably on this salary and will I be able to get a green card despite me not doing so well in school? And would they be ok with my current job or do I have to work at a ordinary job?

Ok. Where in California? Basically you need $500,000 through $1 Million to buy anywhere near Los Angeles County. Even with your earnings and half of that going out the window to the government, you still might end up a grown man with roommates. It's like living on Mars.

Don't screw up and buy that Erin Brokovich land, I hear they've got some good deals on it. Having said, it is nice in California, even in January.

i like those big gaffes in san francisco like the ones ya see in the movies "bullitt" and "mrs doubtfire" and "pacific heights",,,,,
they are expensive but still dont compare to inner london prices,,
i think if i could have a second home in the states then New England looks very nice,,,,
i would like a white picket fence around the house and a town like james stewarts in "its a wonderful life or that lovely town in big arnies "kindergarden cop" i think that was in oregon?....
i imagine i may be a tad idealistic and looking through "rose tinted glasses" but thats the usa i woud like to live in,,,,

I would says move to Australia.

Better than the US, if I want to see a doctor here it's free, and I don't think that's the case in the US.

Immigration shouldn't be a problem, if you can buy a business here I think you are in.

I would like to visit the US, but personally I don't think I would want to live there.

I wouldn't want to live in the UK either, or even visit it.

Why do you want to move? The weather? Let me tell you lying on a sandy beach gets boring after a while.

I live 3 blocks from a sandy beach with miles of white sand, and I don't even go near the place.

There's no such thing as free. The money has to come from somewhere. What are income taxes like over there?

I don't know, I don't pay any.

You might not pay up front, but your paying one way or another. Cost of living and taxes are much higher in Australia than the US.

I'm not bashing Australia either, seems like a great country and I'd love to visit someday.

You can get a Condo down South In California around $50,000 and above.

One can rent for $750 a month.Whatever your job is what you do.Careful about having over $10,000 because one would have to file papers.

Green card ? Know nothing of it.One could say schooling.

I wish it was like that in San Jose. An average (small) condo is over half a million. An average house is over a million. Average rent is $2300 and going up every year.

It's worth it to be able to grow weed legally. It would be just as legal and cheaper in other parts of California, but my job is here. I'm just a hobbyist grower.

you could probably just talk about your grows and give tips to newbies and at least cover some pro mix or something

with all the content, there is still room for more good content

I don't know, but a system where the rich subsidise the poor seems ok to me.
Seems better than an every man for himself system.

But yes, I googled and the cost of living in the US is 4.49% lower than in Australia.

And the tax rate here is higher than the US, so that's the price for having these free public services.

The people with money are paying for those who don't have much money, which is probably regarded as a bit too socialist for socialist/communist phobic United States.

And medicines are subsidised by the Government here, so you will pay $4.40 US to get a prescription filled at the chemist.

I guess it depends on how much money you have, if you have a decent income then the US might be better, but if not then a country that has elements of what people in the US might call "socialism" might be better.

In America the same pills will cost your as much as $1,500. that's probably at least $2,000 AUD for a 30 day supply of pills with no insurance.

If you have a job that pays medical expenses, you would be fine. I have not been able to work in years, and private insurance is $8000.00 a year, for someone that has no problems, except anti-depressants. If Trump or some of the other clowns get elected, you are probably better off anywhere else.

Mine is half that and I don't pay it
