Thanks dubi,

I'm still angling for a pack or two of your Old Timers Haze, but these crosses sound amazing. I asked a similar question for the OTH in another thread. How would these F1's perform outdoors at about 35 degrees from the equator several miles inland? For indoor scrog type grows, it sounds like the green haze cross is a little bit more manageable, would you agree?

Thanks,

Ur Humbl Nr8tor

Hello,

Yes, the green haze x thai would be more manageable than the purple haze cross. If you are living in coastal climate you can grow it at 35 latitude, a greenhouse would be recommended in the last months of flowering for best results. You can also SCROG her indoors but try to use very intense ligths.

Hope it helps. Best wishes!

Sorry about the your bad luck Ur Humbl Nr8tor.

Yeah, when I first read about Oldtimer Haze last year.
I said to myself what if I wait too long and they're all
gone. I know I would have been upset at myself and
no one else.

That's why, I bought six packs from Gypsy Nirvana Boutique
last year. I first bought two packs and bought the other four
other packs shortly after. I now feel like a seed whore when
I read here and there how someone wish they could buy
some. Meanwhile 4 packs are chilling in my
fridge while I grow out 2 packs now.

I only wish I either had the time to grow those Double Thai
being sold at Gypsy right now. That would be my next purchase
for sure. Only that 6 Oldtimer Haze packs are going to keep me
a little busy. Just a little. Till next year at least.
I'll be Hazing myself this year.

My advice is buy them before they go away.

Good work with the new plants Ace.

dubi, nice lineup!!! Which one will send me in the highest orbit? I am sure they are all great. I am leaning towards the double thai.

3dDreams, I feel for the Double Thai as well. I've never smoked
a Thai Stick or even a Haze type of plant before. That's why I'm doing
Oldtimer Hazes right now. I somehow feel those Double Thai are going
to make someone very sky high. It would be cool to see if they would
grow over 15 feet tall should someone try one in a warm climate.

I'm not sure if they will or not. I've seen pictures of MeaoThai
before and they look around 5 feet tall but very bushy. Like a
bunch of hippies.

Good day all!

Sbay and Sbou have received fresh ace stock in the past weeks.
Seeds distributed this year are being packaged inside our new 2008 envelopes.

Seems Sbay and Sbou stealth packing methods doesnt allow to send seeds worldwide inside crystal tubes like we do. So new ace seeds distributed through Sb will be repackaged to more discreet shipping, same method we have been using here for the past 2 years.

We would love that you all receive our seeds in their original packaging but security is main concern here. I hope you all understand, please let me know if you have any doubt or question.

Best wishes and happy grows! dubi - ACE Seeds -

I'm not sure about others Dubi. But, I got my six Oldtimer Haze packs last year in their original packages Here's the photo I took a few minutes ago of both packs that I'm currently using in my grow.

What I really like is that the date is put on the packs so that someone can tell how old they are. For those who don't know
the crystal tube Dubi is talking about were where the purple line
is in the middle of the pack. You can see in the bottom pack
where I ripped off the vial. As they were glued very well.
My only dilema, is that I can't read Spanish. But looking
at Ace's description of Oldtimer Haze in Ic Mag it's
pretty easy to follow.

Great Job,

Dubi and all Ace Gang

Hi Corky1968, i'm glad to see you're gonna get into the ot haze experience! How do you plan to grow them? Indoors/outdoors, setup/climate, etc...
You don't have to mind about time when growing her, take it easy and patiently. You'll love them!

Hello GKN,

I read your Old Timer's Haze in Buenos Aires and like that
very much. It's surely the way sativas are meant to grow.
In the sun, like they deserve.

I was told by Ace in a private email a while back to check
the plants that the plants that el raisán is growing as they
are from exactly the same batch of seeds I'm doing now.
He has very nice Oldtimer Haze pictures as well.

The link Ace gave me for el raisán's grow is this:

http://www.cannabiscafe.net/foros/showthread.php?t=80521&page=18

I like hanfiking Oldtimer Hazes at:

http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=68064

He was extremely lucky to grow only two and get a male and female.

I'm glad that more people like el raisán,hanfiking, yourself and others
have grown the Oldtimer Haze. It has helped me plan a few things.
It's also nice to see the plants in action so that I have an idea
what they will turn out like beforehand.

Back to your question GKN. I have started them indoors early enough
to grow them inside while getting clones before they are put to flower.
I will be most likely staying inddors with them seeing that I live at the
46N parallel.

If I could do anything with them I would grow them inside for now. Come
May, transfer them into a greenhouse and plant them straight into a rich soil.
Starting on June 21st, I would then start blackening out the greehouse . Which
is the longest day of the year. Giving my plants 13 hours of daylight for 2 weeks,
12 1/2 hours of daylight for another 2 weeks and then with 12 hours till they finish
up. I imagine that if I could do that starting on June 21st that they would be ready
around the start of November. I'm sure a greenhouse with propane heating installed
could work very well for such project. The nice thing is that I would keep the CO2
produced by the heater to increase my blooming plants yield. I would surely set
things up so that the temp stays around 5ºC min and 20ºC max. like your plants
experienced in Buenos Aires for the nice colours to shine thru. If I had the money
I would do this in a Heartbeat. I imagine it won't be long before someone does a
big greenhouse grow with one of Ace's sativa plants.

Ok Later,

ACE Fem Mix Question

ACE Fem Mix Question

Hey dubi,

I just received my first order of your seeds from the SB store. Unfortunately the tube of Fem Panama dated 19/06/09 was totally crushed with no surviving seeds. I just sent an email and photos to the SB store and I assume they will send me some replacements.

In the same package were two packs of the Fem Mix. One tube was badly cracked but the seeds don't appear to be damaged though I haven't examined them using magnification. Do you think they will be fine or would you suggest I ask the store for a replacement?

The two packs of Fem Mix are different batches and I'm wondering if there is any difference in what they contain. There is a pack dated 04/06/09 with a blue FEM sticker that was not sealed in it's bag and contains 6 seeds (Thanks!) The other package dated 25/02/10 has the badly cracked tube, a yellow FEM sticker, 5 seeds and was sealed in it's bag.

BTW, all of these (Panama and the mixes) will be grown outdoors at 37 degrees Latitude in a coastal climate. I have to deal with a bit of fog and I think my selections should work OK. Any thoughts on that? Probably should have asked you before I ordered.

Thanks!

Hi Corky1968... it's a very good plan you have for growing the hazes at your latitude. Hope you can get the heater and have good results! And keep the line alive in seed form would be important too so if you have males don't hesitate in making a new generation.

Keeping the line going by making another generation like you say GKN is my 1st priority.
Once, I take clones that root, I will flower the plants that I have now and keep the clones
for possible selctive breeding. So basically, the plants grown from seed are to be used as
an open pollination for maximum genetic contribution and the clone will be used to either
grow a crop of just females for personal smoke and/or the clones will be used for breeding
specific plants together. To make separate lines. I figure by doing both types of breeding
on after the other I should have lots of HAZE genetic material to play around with.

It's still early, the plants are just babies right now. They are bottled fed
and almost toilet trained. Now, I'll have to train them to walk and talk.
. I'm not sure if the want to go to school though.
I heard the Oldtimer Hazes can be pretty wild.
Maybe the will revolt on me and grow crazy.

Hello MagicMists,

Im sorry to hear your envelopes arrived crushed. Our packaging has been designed to provide a high protection of the seeds, the tube arriving crashed is a very rare thing.

Yes, you can grow panama and ace mixes at 37 latitude coastal climate, we indeed breed and test most of our genetics in a coastal climate in that latitude. Thanks for support our work.

Dubi,

Thanks for your reply. I agree that your packaging is good. I think the seeds would have all arrived in good condition if the envelope used for shipping had been padded.

So far I have not received much of a response from the SB store. All they have said is to read their FAQ which I have done. It says if an order doesn't arrive it's not their responsibility. My order arrived but with one whole seed pack crushed and in an unpadded envelope which to me implies they have some responsibility here. Hopefully they will respond to my third attempt to discuss this with them.

In my previous post I asked if you thought there would be any difference in the two packs of Fem Mix I received as they are from different batches. There is a pack dated 04/06/09 with a blue FEM sticker and a package dated 25/02/10 with a yellow FEM sticker. These seeds seem to be fine (it was the FEM Panama seeds that were destroyed) and will be planted soon. I'm wondering if there is any difference in what they contain.

Thanks for your response and for your breeding efforts. I am excited to be working with your seeds this coming grow season!

That is one of a few problems with mail delivery.
If something goes bad for example, they either get lost,
stolen, damaged, etc. in route from the seed dealer to
the customer. It's sad when it happens, but most seed
dealers to have it in the fine print that they are not
responsible. Your only guarantee of getting what you
want is to actually go out yourself and get them.
Only going out yourself could be expensive and
time consuming depending where your located.
I haven't gone yet to a place to buy seeds in
person yet. I know I will in the future though.
It's on my to do list. I figure it would be cool
to meet a seed bank in person, or better yet
take a trip to a country and buy landraces in
person once in your life.

Corky,

Thanks for your thoughtful reply. I wish I could just buy the seeds in person. That would be great but it would require an expensive international flight so that doesn't seem to be in the offing. It would be fun though!

I am more hopeful about a replacement pack today as I heard back from the SB store. They will consider replacing the seed pack if I return it unopened. Fortunately as well as photographing the envelope when I was first opening it I have not opened the plastic that surrounds the whole seed pack from ACE. It is pretty clear from looking into the clear plastic that the seed tube is smashed to bits (it's no longer glued to the inside of the package) and the seeds have been reduced to seed debris - a sad thing indeed!

I took pics because I wanted to show a friend how the seeds arrived. The package looked fine from the outside and I had no idea there was a problem until I looked closely at the Panama seed pack. Hopefully I can get this taken care of and can get replacements in time to germinate them during April. I much prefer to be a fan of the SB store than to go looking elsewhere as they have served me well over the years.

Dubi, if for any reason you would like to see the photos of the packaging and damage let me know.

UPDATE: The SB store sent me a replacement pack for the crushed Panama seeds. Not the easiest folks to deal with on the returns/issues side of things but they made good and I got the seeds in time to start my spring garden.

Yeah, I will continue to take digital photos of any seed packs that I am unpacking as that may have helped speed things up.
