Frequent Watering vs. Once Daily: HUGE Difference

N

Neptune

Oh fo sho VT, I am not doubting that drippers make bigger plants faster. just how much faster is the question, and one can't say how much faster when the subjects in question are not equal :p

Next experiment, 5 gallon pot of coco hand watered once every other day
VS.
2 gallon coco pot on 4x dripper irrigation

Neptune hit the nail on the head in an earlier post. I use coco....and I just did a test run of some seeds I made by crossing some nice genetics. Out of the 6 I germed and vegged in in 4" pots...I took two, and transplanted them into 2G pots. Within 1 week, the ones that were transplanted doubled the size of the ones left in the 4" pot. Same feed schedule of hand watering once a day, and same light.

All that being said...I believe plants grown in coco will respond well with more frequent watering....but this experiment doesn't show the conclusions.

The pic shows the one left in the 4" pot in the middle.

Well, it didn't start out as a deliberate experiment per se...it just happened because I happened to be short by one pot during transplant. If I'd set out to prove a hypothesis I wouldn't have used nine clones in one-gallon pots and a single clone in a 4" pot. Still, it was striking how rapidly the other nine plants' growth outstripped that of the runt.

My curiosity is piqued: I'd like to see how ten or twelve uniform clones from the same mother respond to the different watering regimens. Gonna try it at the next opportunity.
