Lookin good Lothar :sasmokin:

I got a few pool noodles a while ago and will be using them in my aero system. Mine measure at 2.75" in diameter and don't have a hole in the middle. I made a cut from the edge to the center to slip the clones in. My question is if you think NOT having a hole in the middle will cause a problem with growth. Will the plant struggle to push out it's collar?

thanks,

Man, have you ever seen cracks in your driveway, or concrete foundations split by roots? Don't worry, the plant will have no trouble at all pushing around all that foam.

Lothar,

Good to see you have made the trip to here from OG. I was one of the last to post on your old thread...good to see you have gone through with the pool noodles. They are quite a new tone for the grow this time with the flower design, I look forward to hearing how they work out. I see you are still going to use the netpots...and was curious to know to what advantage that may have versus not using them and letting the stalk and roots hang from the noodle itself? From here, I am anxious to see how it all works out. With your added extensions on this grow...its going to be great to see your new system fully functioning.

Good luck, this newbie will be following along.

good to see ya here lothar
ya still do 1 min on and 5 min off in your areo system? Do ya think that 1/2 hp eco pump will blow the roots off with no stone to to hit?

right on, I switched the the pool noodle myself, purple. they work pretty good, I had to stuff little sections in the middle to hold the plants up, but they are great.

your setup is off the chain, I love it.

Lothar,

Nicely done & cute too. Maybe you should take a cue from the new noodle shape and do a guitar based on it. It could be very Peter Max 1960's, don't you think?

Hey everyone, sorry for no updates, I've been busy as hell.

The clones are all in as of last week and roots have started showing today, that's 6 days rooting time, which is pretty good. However I had some sprayer problems because I fucked up one of the filters (as in forgetting to put it in) and had to replace a bunch of clones. So, I now have 300 clones in just in case. I doubled up a on a bunch of the sites, which allows me to throw away the 50 weakest as they come along.

I'll try to get some pics tomorrow if I go, but it may have to wait a bit as my regular job is taking up too much time and interfering with my hobby.

As for the questions, Dopegud, the clones hold themselves up by the leaves on the noodle and the netcup below. I may have to shim them with some bits or add the netting (nylon trellissing) sooner to keep them all inline until they get properly established.

Someone asked about the Eco 230 and spray, it's never been a problem before. I've rooted clones in the system before with no medium, but this will be the first time I've gone through the whole grow free of the odious hydroton.

I've actually just ordered a bunch of 50 micron sprayers to raise the pressure in the system a bit as the addition of all the extra regular sprayers (50 more than last time) has dropped the PSI to below 30, and taken the system to much more of an NFT.

I have hooked up the second pump (I'll get pics of that) for the redundancy. So I now have the each pump coming on alternatively, to create a backup.

Here's how that works, every 5 minutes, pump A comes on for 30 seconds. Same thing with pump B, but pump B starts 2.5 minutes into Pump A's schedule. So, every 2.5 minutes, someone is spraying for 30 seconds.

It's a little hard on the brain to deal with, and I'm still messing with it, but I'll get it down. What I want is a situation where if one of the pumps or circuits fails, then the plants get at least a 30 second spray every 5 minutes. It cuts down on the nightmares.

New pics soon as I can.

Thanks for all the interest.

Sweet setup Lothar.. Ive been contemplating switching to pool noodles as well. I haven seen the type im looking for yet, unfortunatly.(as you said wrong time of the season to be shopping canada for those) This will be my first tag along on one of your grows!

Im using LAVA ROCK as my medium. Hydroton is to bloody expensive to be throwing away each grow(PITA to clean), but not lava rock. I pay 5 bucks for a big bag of lava from Home Depot. The only shitty thing is you have to rinse it off before using it.Ive got a bucket with holes drilled all over that i dunk into a bigger bucket to rinse with, works good!
