Several times I've eaten in local breakfast cafes and could see a struggling family counting their $$ to see if they had enough to pay for breakfast. I'd get the waitress's attention and pay for their breakfast, not knowing WHO paid for their meal.

hey where I was I saw a guy who was talking to himself in public constantly, granted I do it briefly then realize it but this guy seemed to be talking into a cell phone that was cardboard and then a 2nd time talking into nothing and completely to himself. To others, and perhaps my bro, that would be a laughable event and admit I considered that false wavelength and embraced it briefly, but then I realized that poor guy needed help and should get it, he did nothing to no one nor asked for anything from no one, unlike many phony well dressed sometimes aggressive beggars. That guy needs help and should get it, maybe me as well but it he gets what he needs I will be happy for the goodness of humanity.

that may be the difference between you and me Toker, I tend NOT to over analyze a situation, I would apply the KISS principle here, keepitsimplestupid; not a reference to you or this guy at all, but the first thing I would have done is to ask him if he needed to borrow my cell phone for some calls :dunno:

The wife and I were eating at our regular family Mexican Restaurant one particular evening years ago.I noticed a Dad and a Youngish daughter (maybe 10) were having dinner. They were having such a good time and the little girl was just such a nice little Gal (reminded me of my own daughter).Anyway,I heard her ask her Dad what Flan was like. The Dad said that he didn't know and that maybe they would try it next time.

When the wife and I went to pay for our dinner,I had the waitress add an order of Flan to our bill and to serve it to them.I sure hope they enjoyed it.(but really..who doesn't like Flan?)

Me, I like to keep it simple, the first thing I would have done is to ask him if he needed to borrow my cell phone for some calls :dunno:

then go to the local fast food joint & buy the guy a warm meal, it may be too little but that's how I still prefer to give to those in some sort of need.......

aoh, does that mean you would talk to me out of mercy or would ignore the teen before you decided otherwise? Either way I respect you and your choice but hope if you meant something against me than maybe now you realize your mistake. otherwise if I misunderstood, sorry my friend. and shit... what... the rest of that name is... what did that mean? Anyway, I trust you all meant well and I thank you for it!

nope, never meant anything against you, nor anyone else on here. only things i hate are greed, intolerance, rudeness, ummmm. shit, easier for me to say what i like - animals, weed, friendly people w/out agendas & folks with an open mind. oh, and bacon. or would that fall under "animals" ? "and you can get, anything that you want, at Alices restaurant..." we ALL belong on the group W bench, LOL! Toker, i really enjoy your threads. if not, i would not come here to fuck with you just a little bit. :tiphat:

Years ago a friend stopped during a snow storm to help an elderly woman who had skidded to the side of the road. He dug her out ,hitched up her car and pulled her out and followed her home to make sure she got there safely.
She was a bit standoffish as older peeps can be but thanked him, offed him a few bucks which he refused and mentioned how several vehicles had driven right past her, asked his name and if he lived in town and then he went on his way.
A couple years later she died. My buddy got a call from an attorney and was asked to come to the office. She hadn't forgotten his help that dark stormy night and left him 10K in appreciation.

A friend’s father was on the highway and noticed a woman with a couple of young children off to the side of the road with a flat tire. He pulled over to see if he could help and the women told him they’d been there for some time. She said she didn’t know what to do and didn’t know how to change the tire. He proceeded to change it and the woman was so thankful and offered some cash of which he refused. She asked for his name and address so she could contact him and he obliged.

A few weeks later a large box arrived at his home, inside was a large color TV (this was early 70’s). A note said thank you so much for your extreme generosity and help and was signed by Coretta Scott King.

Wow! Nice and from such an esteemed woman!!
I have a note from Maria Von Trapp responding to my inquiry of trails (bike/hike) in Austria I wrote back from the mid 1970's. She politely told me to consult travel agency, but Sound of Music famed woman...she could have ignored my request.

Politeness, civility and random acts of human kindness....I hope we don't lose that in the Instagram age.

I like to "Pay It Forward" when I see someone in need.
