Freakshow (fern leaf strain) by shapeshifter/humboldt seed company

The thing that bugs me is Humboldt Seed Company put out sub-par Freakshow seeds. I've grown a few of their packs and this was by far the worst beans I have seen from them. They were white, immature and half of them had cracks, the germination rate was awful. If you look at the picture of my F1's, the seeds are bigger and higher quality than what came from the breeder. Just thought I'd get that off my chest.

Yes sir they are germinating a bit less than 100 I got 18 for 21 17 survived in this last pack I popped 26 out of 42 on the last two they like hot temps and fresh soil they hate soggy and old soil to sprout others do fine in that old soil not these be careful with overwatering when sprouting directly in soil
I saw someone get 17 for 20 in paper towels I'm planting 4 more seeds I hope to get 100% I'm all in man taking out loans and shit lol damn

Pale seeds are ok as long as they have strength and SHAPE. A simple finger tip test will tell you if they're valid. White seeds should have a 10% germination as long as they past the test.

Mine popped 10/10, but like I said previously, they are very hard to grow past the seedling stage. Once you get past that, you're golden. As babies they are highly susceptible to over feeding and will die with warm to hot soil. So take your time with them.

Definitely not for a newbie.

There should be pheno names because many are very different.

Two are open now, transferred all to paper towels in plastic bags. Half of the Mochi and most Boreal Lights have sprouted. Freakshow had something growing mildew or mold on most all ten seeds. Using a stainless tea strainer I soaked them in tap water for a few minutes then a hemp soap wash. Sprouts had a quick Plant Therapy soak and paper towels ~1/3-1/2 strength with tap water. Attempting to sterilize or clean the seeds before sprouting would it make any difference compared to covering them in soil, soap or oxyclean or chlorine soak as a pretreatment, maybe I'll try.

Like I said airy warm soil plant them if they don't grow it's the breeders fault I know why my first ones were poor germination

Two are up with big floppy cotyledons. Freakshow seeds resemble small pine nuts lighter in color on one side. Hydrogen peroxide (10 ml of 3% in 500 ml tap water) cleans the surface of the seeds though I think I should have treated them with physan or something. Missed a day and opened the paper towel to find one open with a soft root tip from what was growing on the seed shells. Three or four have opened so far. Something which can be prevented? It could be the case that seeded outdoor plants were handled together in a thriving ecosystem.

Hey art.spliff,

washing your seeds with H2O2 was a good Idea. I just don´t get why people germ their seeds in paper towels. I never had problems with just soaking and sowing into soil straight away. With paper towels I often had mold infection or root-rot because of the low oxygen availability between the sheets of paper.

So to prevent this, either soak your paper towels in dilute H2O2 or sow directly into soil.

Met Jasmine from Trim Scene Solutions and she was kind enough to recommend Conscious Gardeners Jute Trellis Netting and a Mini 2" Soil Blocker.
Ladybug flew away when I tried to take a picture.

Freakshow X ABC F1 = normal plants lol. Humboldt CSI IG

Probably indicates the mutations are completely different. Hopefully F2's bring out something fun
