are you guys talking about mixing the fox farm orange bag, ocean forest, and the new Frog bag together? and perlite? i just use straight ocean forest, my organic teas soften the soil right up. :D

i used the hf recently, to keep some sick plants in (it has mostly bacterias, not a lot of nutes), they loved their stay in the hf...

we just picked up a few bags of happy frog this weekend.. cheaper than OF and feels lighter.. also can't beat the mycorrhizae they add to it.. very nice

we are using happy frog to cut the rest of our OF (50/50) and so far seedlings & cuttings are loving it..

Hello all,

Mars, If you start yoru seedligns out in it- I would presume that the plants roots are "innoculated" when it is time to transplant.

So my question is- would there be a need to add it further to the transplant soil-say OF/ewc/perlite?

FFOF, with added

Blood meal, Bone meal, Kelp Meal, Alfalfa, Worm Castings, Dolomite, and Perlite
Watered with Liquid Karma, and Molasses Teas.

Happy Frog is probably better for gardeners who like to buy liquid organic fertilizers and add add add away. I like to mix my soil ahead of time, and just... water. FFOF has plenty of goodies in it to keep my moms happy 5-7 weeks without any liquid or dry fertilizer feed. But, I like to add all my dry supplements to get bigger buds, with outstanding flavor and aroma.

Neptune, do you mix all the ammendments then let it sit for 2 weeks to "bake" so to speak, then plant? Or do you mix and plant in the same day?

I'd love to mix all of my ferts right into the soil, but I don't have the space to have 20 cu ft of soil just sitting out baking for 2 weeks, turning and keeping it moist. It would be impossible.

I have done both.

I have better results from "marinating" the soil, but in a pinch I have had to mix and pot imedatly. When I do this, I go heavier on the faster feeding fertilizers: Kelp, AlfAlfa, and Earthworm Castings. I then back off of the blood and bone a little, and I remember to use more liquid organic NPK supplements in flower.

Well let me tell you my experience with both soils (happyfrog and moonshine mix) and a phone call to FoxFarm. The guy at the hydro store told me that he wanted me to try this soil for free so I said WTF. I asked him if he knew anything about it and said no but Ill call the FF rep. He called and to sum it up the rep said it was basically the left over soil from ripped and misc bags at the farm.
To let you know first the MSM is better in taste and easier to take care of. My first grow was done from the moonshine mix and ALL I DID WAS ADD PH'D WATER.

Now my second grow (in progress) I used 1 bag happyfrog and 1 bag light warrior for veg and for flower I used 1 bag happyfrog and 1 cup of piece of mind. I notice I needed to add nutes when I started flower. Im also using sweet and cal mag every watering. Here is a pic of my ladyz with the nute def.

i feel ffof is light on nutes, i have to start feeding 2 weeks into it. unless 5 gallon buckets.. that will last about 3 to 4 weeks.

If you try this mix

You won't have to feed AT ALL for the entire life of the plant

and you wont have to add anything at all or just those three :chin:

i grabbed a bag of the red and have a few plants in it is that good enough or should i do more

The MM is a bit more expensive and a hassle than any other mix. Where I live

FFoF = $12 - 1.5 cu ft bag.
Red bag = 12 - 1 cu ft.
Light warrior = 20 - 1 cu ft.
So thats $44 for 3.5 cu ft of soil.

Happy frog = $12 for a 2cu ft bag.
$21 for 3.5 cu ft of soil.

Im not sure if the MM mix is worth more than double the price and work but if it is already dialed in perhaps it's worth it.

I do see your point but it all depends what your going for. Me Im going for personal smoke that will knock your sox off and the MSM brings that taste out :yummy: . I have done both and still have to say the MSM is still cheaper and better and Ill tell you why. With the MSM I added nothing so thats only the cost of the mix $45 and with the HappyFrogxLightwarrior Im having to add nutes in flower. These nutes are really expensive as you already know. Ive added sweet, calmag, growbig, fishmix and a tad of tigerbloom. Again I only added when the plants started with a lil deficency. THIS IS ONLY FROM MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE WITH THESE MIXES IM SURE THERE ARE OHTER WAYS THAT ARE COMPARABLE. :chin: :chin: :chin:
