FOXFARM HAPPY FROG

B

baccas125

I saw this pre-mixed soil made by Fox Farm. I was wondering if anyone had any experience using this stuff??? I am usualy a Pro-Mix HP guy but the guys at the store asked if i wanted to give this stuff a run. These soil is considerably more dense than the Fox Farm Ocean forest. I added 20% perlite to my mix.

I know some people that use it. I dont remeber the medium recipe exactly but it was somthing like 1/4 perlite, 1/4 perlite and 1/4 to 1/2 coco fiber. I could be off maybe not that much coco, but it was a lot. These were in round pots for Arcata TW and some kinda Arcata purple's. they were on a ebb & flow table. to rooms full o' plants. Was at limit at 198 plants. 4200 watts total light.

I'm gonna have to tell the hydro store owner to pick up some of that....Looks interesting....Was it more expensive than Ocean Forest?

You must live in Cali HydroKing....In Colorado it's between 17-25 bucks for a bag of Ocean Forest, depending where you get it from.

the bacteria listing and michorizae listing is interesting, first time i see that on a bag...

the Promix HP has the mike in it too.

I thought ProMix was almost entirely inert with a very small charge of nutrients, FFOF is supposed to have alot of compost and nutrients, I've heard it lets you go 1 month without feeding. I'm not sure what happy frog has.

the ffof has alot more nutes from exp.. i just started some plants with the happy frog as its a bit cheaper then the of and close to it. I also have some plants in of and a mix of the 2 + light warrior and organic mix. Im starting a thread soon comparing the mixes :)... but so far ive had better success (yeild and potency) with the ffof then promix (added castings and perlite)...

the happy frog is bascialy a premixed "Moonshine Mix".....

a bit weaker mix than Id do myself but for most folks it beats having to mix the three bags of Foxfarm....Ocaen Forest, Planting Mix and Lite Warrior.....add the right amount of ocean forest and coco to it and away you go.....

I was given a couple bags to try out and I still prefer to mix the threee myself....

I did a big "organic grow comparison" this summer and I got some HUGE yeilds from some of the other soils...2X more in some cases...but NOTHING beats the flavor and overall KINDness than foxfarm....the heavy composts and ocean nutes that the FF has just brings forth a whole nother level of flavor and high that the peat/sphagnum/coco mediums just cant touch....the FF nugs look and smell like exotic flowers...the peat/coco based mediums make the nugs come out a bit to commercial looking....over fed, similar flavor and smells ....BLAH.....

Id give the HF a good nod.....but the three bag mix is still superior....

Which Fox Farms soil did you have the best results with Moonshineman? Looking for something that works very well but does not require too much mixing. I currently use Ocean Forest with about 30% perlite added. I use my soil mix for my mommas which are in 5 gallon buckets. The less work involved with the soil the better. Thanks in advance!

Ocean forest is the best all around substrate IMO.....add a coco brick and a lil perilite and away you go.....

Hello all,

I use a 50/20/30 mix of OF, EWC and perlite.

So far this is the best organic soil grow yet.

Ive used a lot of diff soils including walmart soil, supersoil(from home depot), greenall, kelloggs, ocean forest, and happy frog and I now stick with happy frog exclusively. Before it came out, OF was my fav, but happy frog is cheaper and makes my buds just as tasty. Yields are the same too.

All of the Fox Farm soils are such high quality soils, no bark, no splinters in your hands. It is such a luxury.
