FOX FARM BIG BLOOM?

whats with them having a dose of half a cup per gallon........ that makes for one expensive feeding...... is it needed in addition to high Phosphorous guano, I noticed it had high potassium, does that have something to do with it?

Its actually a nutrient supplement, its supposed to be used with fox farms Tiger bloom and Grow big. Its 100% organic, and it doesnt have high N-P-K values, thats why youre suppose to use alot.

The large 1/2 cup feeding is only needed when they first go into 12/12. After that you can use a regular amount. I use 2/3C per Gal myself.

big bloom is pretty good for the money but there is way better ferts out there for just a little more cash.

they say use the 1/2 cup right when u start to flower, but that contradicts what most people say...most people don't start hitting the flowering ferts until after the stretch for better yields....i was curious about when people started hitting their plants with good doses of flowering ferts so i started a thread on it once....some start right when they flip 12/12 but most don't start until after the stretch or around 2 weeks.

on the foxfarm schedule, it says to use big bloom from seedling all the way through pretty much, along side the other specialized ferts. Does anybody use it that way?

I've had great results by "goosing" the plants when you flip to 12/12, or sometime during the first few days. Basically a single feeding of (in my case) Big Bloom at the rate of 1/2 cup per gallon. Then just go back to feeding higher-N nutes for a however long into flowering you like to feed N. For me, that's always been 1 week, but starting next crop, it will be until day 21 of bloom. (Long story.)

The idea of the heavy feeding of FF BB at the beginning of 12/12 is because it helps push the plants into a quick flowering to avoid excessive stretching and promote more shoots at the same time. I find I get white hairs within the first week of 12/12 when I use BB the day I put them in.

dont be chicken big bloom is mainly worm casting and guano with a mixture a trace minerals the plant needs. but for tigerbloom its best to start this nute off on 1/4 strength first wk this is introduced if they like it up dossage to 1/2 strength the 2nd wk. but when you up the dossage allways watch the plants some love everything ya give em. some can be tempermental and the dossage will need to be cut back to previous strength it was ok with. when you feed nutes best to alternate plain water then a nute water for soil you'll have a less of a chance of salts building up.

tigerbloom will also throw your soil PH off after due time so some dolimite lime in the soil helps :)

I just use the tiger bloom. I used to get caught up with all the different suppliments but I didnt notice that big of deal to keep doing it. Growbig for veg and tiger bloom for flower is all I need......

I have heard many people talk of the FF nutes, especially tigerbloom, messing with your soil PH. Many will tell you that in order to avoid this down the road, you can add dolomite lime to your soil from the beginning. I would like to add one caveat to that advice. I've only got one grow under my belt, but I checked my soil PH constantly throughout my grow. I never ran into any ph problems whatsoever. I'm not saying that you won't, but I do believe that there are several reasons that I did not need to add lime to my soil.

First of all, I used Fox Farms Ocean Forest soil. Ocean Forest is specifically PH balanced for use with FF nutes. I have spoken with several other growers who used FF Ocean Forest and FF nutes, and they did not need to add lime at any time either. Also, both I, and the other growers I'm mentioning followed the FF nute schedule very closely. It's not that we added the exact amounts that they tell you, but I believe the most important piece of advice they give you on the schedule is to alternate plain water feedings with your nute feedings. I'm convinced that this helped "pseudo-flush" the soil all throughout the grow, so I never had salt deposit issues, and I believe that this also helped prevent the PH problems that many others experience with FF nutes.

Regardless, you should always stay on top of your soil PH. But remember, if you are using FF soil and nutes, I would wait on adding the lime to your soil mix. It may not be needed.

PS- I used the 1/2 cup feeding of Big Bloom the day after I flipped to 12/12. I had visible preflowers within 7 days. After the 1/2 cup, I switched to 2 tbs, just as the schedule suggests. Remember, always alternate plain water feedings with nute feedings when using FF nutes to avoid problems down the road. More nutes does not always = More bud.

Tigerbloom has a PH of 4 so if it builds up it can lower your PH. As stated earlier, dolomite lime will keep your PH adjusted though.

Alternating feeding with straight water is going to be very important if you're using Tiger Bloom, as it contains salts that the microbes in your soil aren't that fond of. It can be used successfully, but be sure to flush mildly periodically, IMO.

I totally feel using a heavy BB and tiger bloom solution for flowering in a hydro organic setup with straight up out of bottle organic nutes..... but I love the guano...... do I really need the BB?
