Found this cheap Ballast anygood?

FRANKENBLUNT420

me blunt is like, wicked yo!! owight
the ballast is fine, the question should be more along the lines of, how good are your electrical skills.

u do realize that, that ballast comes in parts and you have to connect it all together right?

the wires from the ignitor will probably be attached

you will have to wire in the main lines and to the bulbs

nothing too complicated

I just ordered a new 150 ballast from 1000lights. There are no instructions. You need to know the drill, or simply search out a DIY here. Great ones that are simple to follow exist. I imagine asshat instructions also exist, so be discerning.

(I also bought a Sola..and wanted to mention that althoug it's only a small 150, it is completely silent.)

hi, i run 4 1k hps solas just like the one you show. in the past i have owned 4 400 watt and one 1k mh. all sola multi tap. none have ever failed and they don't burn out bulbs. i'm running 1k hps hortilux.

for sure get the multi-tap version as you can run it on any voltage. you might be using 120v now and want to switch to 240v later.

as far as wiring it takes 5 minutes to hook one up.

they come out of the box with the ballast, igniter, and capacitor all pre-wired. you will be left with a common (labeled and universal for all voltages) and 4 labeled voltage wires. simply hook one power cord wire to the common and pick the voltage you want and hook it to the other. the other voltage wires are capped so you just need to wrap them up somehow so they're not hanging all over. you might want to ground the ballast.

it remains for you to mount it all to a board or somthing. later d9

have you noticed the 600's are more expensive than the 1k's? the reason is demand, not cost.

one cool thing is that you are buying "lamp parts" and not "grow lights".

I've used the 400 watt version of this ballast kit for years, with 400W CMH bulbs. Rock solid and quiet, I'm a happy customer.

Mounted mine in a mailbox (cheapest metal box at the store). Next time I might look up a real ballast box or other square, vented box.
