Force flowering outdoors

I'm forced to grow some skunk and other indoor strains this summer and i was wondering if you people have ever forced outdoor plants into flowering by shortening light hours. I know you can just cover your plants with some black plastic or something similar but what about air flow and everything, so if you have ever done anything similar then please share your views and ideas :woohoo:

when must you harvest? can't you can afford to let them finish on their own because you'll have to cover them every day.
actually i believe that it's the 12 hours of darkness that makes the plants flower

I've used garbage bags to keep frost off, not for darkness.
But if you get them off beofre the sun gets too high they didn't condensate on the bags. Paper Bags work too, but you might need to change them a few times, if they get wet.

Dark cloth would be best I'd think.

12 and shorter. He might have a Long Flowering Strain and need to quicken it and not let it vegg too long? Perhaps He wants a crop in Mid Summer when no one thinks to look for Finished Plants?

Oh there is a Breathable Black Mesh Matterial you can buy just for this, they force flower MANY , many commerial plants.

Hi gasgan, I have force flowered plants outdoors by building a tent with pvc pipes and black plastic bags, it works good but you need to anticipate the stretch, I suggest you build the tent with room for the new growth. I used to cover them in the afternoon and uncover them at night.

You might want to check this thread for some inspiration.

I did four a couple years ago, I harvsted in early May. I used a garbage can for each plant. I put the cans on the plants 12 hours from sunrise, and removed them after the night was sufficently black, to help prevent mold problems.

Positioning the plants so they got more east than west sunshine helped.

i did the same as backcountrya few years ago, with the garbage can. it workt fine, as far as air flow, i propped the can up about 3-4 inches. had no probs w/ mold at all. i coverd up at 6 and took it off after it was dark. hook it up man, it'll work for ya.

Here is a little ghetto force flower set-up. It worked really well though. I covered up at about 6pm and then came out again at 9pm once the sun went down and took it off to breath at night. I used PVC for the frame and thick tarp doubled over and duct taped together and used thick black covering to seal up any small light leaks I may have missed. I grew Trainwreck, Bubba Kush, Diesel and some others. Came out real nice. I used the fence to help me block out two walls, so I just had to worry about the other two to cover.

Thanks Fari

When I did this. its was in mid-summer like June-July so I had to do until the last week (8weeks total). I do it to max my harvests, so I can keep low numbers (24 total) to stay within Cali Medical laws.

i always grow 2-3 plants in 5 gallon buckets that i give dark treatment to starting in may. i have a shed that i put them in around 5-6pm and i usually get around to getting them out 7-8 am. its really nice having fresh outdoor stuff to burn in july.

Id avoid putting things like bags over the plants during the daytime, esp. garbage bags. I wouldnt even want to think about how hot it would get inside a black trashbag sitting in the sun for a few hours during july.

im going to be trying to force flowering too and i was thinking that would be a problem with the plastic and most likely cause mold. so i was thinking of getting a trashcan and making light traps with pvc pipes so you could get some air flow going possibly.....whatchall think?
