I never thought about that....how you would use more gas in your car at a higher altitude. I wonder how bad it is. 80% of normal?
My DogHemi (5.7L), 1500 2011... doesn't seem to notice much. At least the computer readout doesn't show it.
Now going up the hill,,, or down it, does make a difference. lol Going up the hill it hits 19 mpg on the readout. Coming down it reads 21 or 22 (at less than 80 mph).
Gasoline makes a HUGE difference. In the winter they add that cheap assed alcohol. I lose a solid 2 mpg with the alcohol in the mix. Pisses me off that they don't even lower the price either.
Good news is:::: it's not a make or break situation $ wise.
By the way. I go from 5280 (denver) to 7600 (Buena Vista) in altitude. Just a couple of small hills on hiway 285.
Injection seems to help negate some of the noticeable power change. But you do lose power as the air gets thinner. My Dog with the Hemi PU seems to have enough to keep living. Turbo's are cool as well.
