I've just been raising my lights till there 4 feet or so above the plants when i mist them, i have glass inclosed hoods so i don't worry about spray on the bulbs, My plants sure looked happier today after the mineral matrix misting, they just looked perky. the rooted clones look pretty happy too, I'm trying a coco mix called basement. Inspected each plant for bugs, I did find a couple knats on a sticky trap, hmmm, I took a little grader and tried the miquito dunks once but i don't think its nearly come to that, hope not anyway

 get a hold of yourself grape. i have read in more than one place that almost everything is phytotoxic to some degree. not trying to pee in your punch bowl. maybe i should have started my question with calling you a dumbass grape grower, but i figured i might look like an asshole ...... :dance013:

Hmmmm. First you ask me if I know the definition of a word or even factor that definition into my experience of foliar spraying (some 40 years) then you tell me to get ahold of myself. Believe me, I've burned my share of crops.... and by the acre, not by the pot.

You fired the first shot (by asking if I even know what light/toxic means) then hid behind your words. I'd tell you to go fuck yourself, but I won't yet.

My advice stands. Spray 1/2 rates. Wet both sides of the leaf. Go about your business.

Hey Skagit, That's all I hear about around here thes days is Dutch Treat. The strain I'm growing is Dutch Treat also. Actually the person I got it from called it Dutch Treat, but now he calls it Dutch #5 and it has many roots in Bellingham. From the internet research that I've done describes Dutch Treat as an Indica dominate and mine is definately a stretchy sativa dominant-works great in a scrog-awsome yeilds. Very good smoke, but I've been smoking too much of it and need to switch up strains to avoid total immunization lol! Have you grown the strain previously?

I just heard of the strain, a bud gave me a rooted plant in a 1 gallon pot feb.1st. I transplanted her to a 12 1/2 gal. pot on valentines day, and started cloning her on the 26th. she's really taken off. Mine looks kinda strechee, delicates the word next to my wherkle, i believe I'll have to stake her eventually, hey heres a new dispensary out by the burlington airport http://pugetsoundholisticcenter.com/home.html its on the way to anacortes, there's a new horticultural shop in march point by jerry smiths car dealership, they've treated me really good and will match anybodys price, i had been going to shoreline for hardware. I have a new fan in my closet grow thats starting to sound like a galloping horse, its a week old!! we'll find out how nice them people are today. cool living out on the island. I used to fish elger bay alot in the winter months, and have a few buds from my old employer that live out there. I'm retired from scott paper in everett.

we took your advice several days ago and the plants look pretty happy. i did raise the lights a little rather than moving them, anyway I'm not sure i under stand the meaning phyotoxic, the light reacts with the sprayed on nutes or whatever and turns it to poison? anyway thanks for your replies, the wherkle girls thank you too.

Yea the islands getting pretty crowded now. I'm an avid fisherman as well, but it's not like it used to be-less fish, crowded boat ramps and lots of rules. Sounds like your strain is probably the same as mine. I haven't used the clinics, though I've heard they are coming. I met a guy from Anacortes when I was renewing my med card that's getting ready to open one, maybe the same one, called Cutting Edge I think.I use Northern Lights in B-ham for my growing needs and they're getting ready to open another shop in Mt. V. at the old Northern Sales. There's one by the Arlington Airport, but don't waste your time-no inventory and I'm not sure if the owner has a brain in his head and I think he hires all relatives with similar traits/disabilities! Again, good luck with your herbs and if you have any questions about the Dutch Treat I may, or may not, be able to help. I,ve been growing it for 3 years.

the best thing about these threads is you can go back and look at what was said. in my first post i asked if farmers USED the word phytotoxic. go back and take a look. i did not ask you if you knew what it was or insult your back round or your intelligence. it was just a simple question. i can understand why farmers would not even use the term as farming is not something that would work real well in the dark. i do realize that acres are a different game than square feet, just like i get the difference between indoor and outdoor. so i threw the question out there.

you came back with asking if i was dumb enough to spray phytotoxic stuff on plants and then you throw the dumb ass pot grower thing in there.

like my next post says i have read that almost everything is phytotoxic to some degree, so yes i suppose if that is true we all spray phytotoxic stuff on our plants.

yes sir after being called a dumb ass i told you to get ahold of yourself and told you in what i thought at the time was a good way, that your response to my original question was crap. no name calling, no insults.

which brings us to:laughing:your latest post ...... I think maybe if you go back and actually read the question that i asked you might wonder how it could be considered a first shot. how exactly did those 7 words get you that bent? and what words did i hide behind? glad you are sticking by your original advice, but for the record (and you could/should go back and read) i never questioned it.

GET A GRIP GRAPE ..... :thank you:

I've got a few questions about support, I haven't needed to support at all growing what I got, and my buds are decent sized, I've also been having a tough time cloneing them. i'm trying aeroponically and there rooting but slowly and my clones are really spread out over 3 weeks a couple cloned in 10 days a few more in 15, a couple more 3 days later, lol, but i'm really wondering if i'm gonna need to maybe use streched netting for support the way the moms growing, i've got her growing horizontally across the closet. I used to go to northern lights. Now i JUST KINDA GO TO DIFFERENT SHOPS, oops cap crap, anyway I found a great deal in everett on compressed bales of soiless 3.8 cf special blend for 31 bucks

Did you tie it down? and its growing horizontally, LST style? Or are you talking about branches holding buds that are starting to bend down due to the weight of the bud.

If its bud weight, you could use some doweling and ties for support. If its the stem growing horizontally, and nothing is tipping over you should be fine. I have my lil one growing horizontally, by lst and its now growing straight out well past the edge of the container, with no ill effect. EDIT: Just saw you said mom.

Got any pics of what you mean (considering the crazy ways people can train, or get a plant to grow) it would be easier to tell.

A friend takes pipe cleaners, and ties one end to drooping branches, and the other to a sturdy main stem, and it works pretty well.

I say go half strength with the supplement and use DM Saturator.
Saturator is a delivery agent and you spray with the lights on, super easy...

iwas talking about supporting bud wieght, CIJOHNNY's growing the same bud as I it sounds like, I'll try to put a pic here, if I'm unsucessful I put another pic of the mom in my dutch treat album. Hey moot I ca't figure out how to put pics on the reply here. I'll have to wait till one of my kids drop by. but I did refresh my Dutch treat album

Pics generally have to be uploaded somewhere first.

As for bud weight, tying a support to the main stem from the branches that are leaning can help. A screen would work, if you can get it into place.

Or just use doweling and tie each branch to one. Sometimes, buds are just too heavy, haha. Like thats a bad thing.

HI Skagit, I end up staking the hell out of mine in dirt, which is why I highly recommend the scrog method. The only reason that I'm growing in soil now is because I got spider mites and found it impossible to treat the bugs with such a dense canopy. If it's the same strain that I'm growing I was getting nearly 2# with 2 plants in a 2'x4'' flood tray and a scrog trellis. I'm going to go 1 more round in dirt to make sure no more bug eggs are hiding, then I'll return to hydro and scrog. I've never done a scrog in soil, but the reason that I'm growing in soil now is the portability-I can take them out of the room for treatments and showers if needed. As far as Northern Lights they're great if you deal with the owner; can't think of his name now, or John, everyone else is cheap labor. You really have to watch over vegging-this strain trples in bud, so you need alot of head room if you don't tie em up. How bout those Dogs. I'm a big college basketball fan! Good Luck!

Hi Skagit, Yea I overshot this crop too and had to tie a few colas to keep them out of the lights-almost done! I haven't done much in the way of successful outdoor growing. While I have acreage and a great S. exposure, what's not wooded has visual exposure so I leave that for my wife's flowers, etc. Sativas; in my opinion, outdoors are tough in this climate if you ask me, but if you can get them to produce mature buds without rot I'm sure it would grow veryyyyyyyyy tall, but again, I believe this strain is so well suited for scrog-I just don't like the idea of my plants being permanent like concrete, because once you start filling that screen you'll never get it back without cutting the trellis and harvesting. I use the white twine tomatoe trellis type for my screen about 14" above the base of the plant(top of soil or hydro tray) and then cut as I harvest. I have a friend in CA that has grown it outside, but the small sampling that I did wasn't as impressive as what I do indoors-who knows what part of the plant the sample came from. It is a powerful smoke! One more thing-I found that switching to 12s gradually decreases the stretch a little, but it is what it is and thats a stretchy girl. Cheers!

Well Skagit it certainly looks like you and your wife and have green thumbs. I have a friend that grew some DT outside last year, but lost most of it to rot. As I told you earlier, tying or scrog is the way to go, in my opinion. How do you like the Urkel that you grew? I haven't knowingly tried any. I hoping to get a Blueberry strain and a few others going. I'm down to just the DT now after learning the hard way about spider mites, but I think I've got them whooped. I'll have to do some research on that mineral matrix. Happy planting

Ya CI I've found the secret to matureing buds without rot around here is a green-house.I grew a pure Indica indoor and outdoor up-river in 77 and 78, I bought a 1000 watt halide from high-times and had it delivered stealth in sedro-woolly, but everything outdoors had to be covered with mini green houses or ya it rotted, nowadays with the big tubs with the rope handles we just put them away in a dark shed and trigger them in july, thats how i get the outdoor buds in the earlier pics. i also grow a couple up against the house and frame them in with visqueen in sept., last year in that spot i grew a local outdoor favorite in the skagit called State street!! Ton of bud and I put in a fan out there to ward off the rot, I've got a ton of Whurkle seeds if you'd like to try growing it, or a clone, maybe trade some bud, I never heard of scrog before, but I train my plants alot, did you check out the dirt farmer contraption i built for a horizontal grow.I think its in indoor dirt thread? I think it'll work, Tommorow i'm moving my mother DT out under the 600 duals and triggering her,I'm gonna put a big square of plywood on the floor and drill a bunch of holes in it, and fill them with the apropriate sized dowels for support, I don't know if you've looked at my albums but shes a pretty good sized plant with about 40 upright branches, i'm gonna take a few more clones from her, i've got about 13 rooted now. bummer about the Borg. I had mites, don't want em back. Talk to ya soon.

Hey Skagit, I really recommend researching scrog-not sure that you could pull it off this late but, as I said, expect a triple stretch. When I had it going in hydro I just built a wood frame above the tray-16" above and stretched twine trellis(with 2x2" squares horizontally over the canopy then fed the vines in a sepentine manor through the the squares. You can find the twine trellis at most garden shops. It will probably double your yield with this strain, if not more. I noticed that there's a new post, I believe they called it perpetual scrog, that was posted today on this site that will give you a visual. I have to get going on some pixs, but I have to learn how to use our new camera and I've been pursuing an employment lead and putting together my resume/job search. You don't know anyone looking for 56 year old Engineer/Estimator/Project Manager that can't pass a piss test do ya! Do you do any steelhead fishing? I have a related training tip but I'll have to get back to you later on that one. Happy Trails!
