Foliar spray question??

If you were giving the plants a mist of lets say Mineral Matrix ( a micro nutrient supplement), would you mist the tops or the bottoms of the leaves or both. I've read on different instructions to spray underneath on some, I've got some how to bibles coming in the mail,I hope they cover questions like this and the why of it also.

Hi SM - I think we're neighbors, in relative terms. I believe most of the time when they recommend spraying the underside it's for treating bugs, but I shower them all when I foliar spray. Also, keep up on current legislation - sounds like they're trying to renig and restrict some of the Washington MM laws. Cheers!

Hey SKAG. You can spray both the tops and bottoms, but the bottom of the leaves are where most of the plants stomata are located. Spray when temps are lower than 80 degrees as this is when the majority of stomata are open, I do this at lights on.
Dilute heavily so you dont burn the leaves. Hope that helps.

The matrix recommendation is a teaspoon per gal. foliar, The plant I'm spraying I moved under the florecents till it drys out. I'm a medical grower and really don't want it legalized. wall sreet and the republicans get involved, man i hate thinking about it

Use 1/2 rates and spray both side of the leaf. No need to move them out from under the lights.

Farmers spray in full sunlight all day every day. For the life of me, I just don't understand this nonsense about spraying at lights out.

In case you mistakenly spray the bulb and it explodes in your face? I don't even know if it's even possible but I wouldn't want to chance it.:blowbubbles:

Spray everything but underside is most important.
Use Dutch Master Penetrator for foliar spray delivery, or a bit of dish soap if on a budget.

I had a similar question regarding foliar feeding, thankfully it was answered here.

I am always however disappointed to hear med or recreational users not want to see weed legalized. Nothing is worth imprisoning millions of people, killing countless others, and ruining lives. I'd also like to point out, that your fear of republicans may find reason to lessen(although not entirely). Notable politicians Gary Johnson, and Ron Paul are pro pot. Republicans in most areas in the US, favor Med MJ more than Dems.

The Republicans are smart, they realize Obama, despite bailing on promises, is too likable to beat on traditional terms. So more of them are embracing legalization. Obama is a liar, and a coward, who scoffs at movements that helped get him into power.

Edit: Just wanted to come back to say sorry for politicizing your grow question. Wasn't trying to be a jerk. Alot of republicans and religious right types are turning pro pot, like Pat Robertson from the 700 club. I don't care who legalizes it, but we should be supporting any politician who does(if you are pro legalization)

i didn't say i feared them ,i said i hated thinking about it! I knew this would happen when i responded to CIJOHNNY, I apoligize if I offended your political views everyone entitled to one. So is that all you had to add to the thread, "I had a similar question"? i'm seeking help and advice, what did you find out, with your similar question? I was actually looking for reasons. Why does some stuff recomend you spray the tops and others the bottoms?

I was worried about spraying the topside myself. I'd heard they can scorch your leaf slightly, I assumed because water droplets would refract and focus light, but the sun statement made sense. I know pesticides generally get sprayed under the leaf, as thats where a lot of critters tend to be.

I wasn't offended at all man.

I'm not even offended that you don't want to see pot legalized, disappointed sure. You are a med patient I think you said, and you support the US Gov imprisoning millions? Many of whom are imprisoned while fighting for the right to the same plant you now use. Disappointed would be the right word.

I don't worry too much about Wall Street. We already pay street prices, even at dispensaries, that are high way robbery. And its a plant. I don't even worry about government regulations. I worry about the millions of lives ruined, I worry about the abuse of power, I worry about kids who lose their parents, dogs who get shot, kids getting MP5's waived in their faces. I worry about the fact that US demanded Marc Emery and got him, that they arrested Tommy Chong for no reason. That the DEA shoots non violent offenders during raids.

Mostly I worry, because my Country is trying to follow in your country's drug war. Increased prison budgets, increased sentences, mandatory minimums, restricted rights, Mega Prisons. We already have 2 DEA offices in Canada.

Why yes we do. But are you dumb enough to spray materials that are phytotoxic?

Who would think a material that is phytotoxic would be good for your plant so they'll just spray it in the dark?

Oh, a dumbass pot grower maybe.

 get a hold of yourself grape. i have read in more than one place that almost everything is phytotoxic to some degree. not trying to pee in your punch bowl. maybe i should have started my question with calling you a dumbass grape grower, but i figured i might look like an asshole ...... :dance013:

seriously though grape - i know you know what time it is, how about educating some dumbass pot growers? i know nothing about phytotoxicity really, but i was under the impression also that a wide range of things could fall under that category depending on how you use them. would you mind elaborating some?

And it begins :dueling:

I spray the undersides. I add some kind of Surfactant(I think that's the term) like dish soap(Bronners) or penetrator by Dutch Master. I also do it right before the lights turn on or right before they turn off, because supposedly that's when the stomata are most open.

Not sure how it would be affected when the plants are accustomed to 24 hours of light. I leave my clones under 24 hours of light and only turn off the t-5's when I'm burning sulfur or spraying something. So it's not really consistent, as far as the plants are concerned. If anyone has any thoughts....or does the same....please chime in.

ya i am a medical patient, but nowhere did i say i support imprisoning millions of people, why would you say i said that? you know i got arrested for indoor cultivation in Alameda county, calif. march 30th 1966, I was in high school and I was just put through a wringer till I left in 72. I'm on this site for fun,and to learn how best to grow marijuana in the invironments i live in. All the stuff you worry about, "cut and pasted below" needs to be taken to a legalization thread, not here.Like i previous said I don't want to think about it.

Hey Skagit, Didn't mean to turn your thread into a political post. I love the Chahuli reference. I spent some time at the Pilchuck Glass School years ago when Robert Morris was really coming on. It was like a hippie sweat shop! Sorry there I go jacking the thread again. Good luck on your meds!
