i will use a hydrofarm 48 inches long fluorescent fixtur with T-5 bulbs. but what i need to know how many T-5 bulbs wide i need to cover this 21 inches running long ways on my trays of clones , a fixtur with 2 , 4, 6 or 8 bulbs and what kinds of bulb are best for my clones i have hear differents things about this . 6400 kelvin daylight , cool white or warm white bulbs or maybe a combinnation of these lights ,i know i can remove the domes in a week or so, i would like to leave my clones for maybe two more weeks under these lights and then move them out side were a will plant them . i hope some one can help me with this maybe i can use the same light fixtue with just change the bulbs around to do all i want because these light fixtur cost alot of money. if any one know a better way iam all ears

For cloning you will only need 1 bulb going, does that fixture allow for individual bulb control? If not, 2 would be ok.. but stronger than you need. The 2 light fixture will work good as a veg light for the initial period. You can get them quite close to that babies if you have a small fan blowing on them as well (which you should have anyways to promote strong stems).

As far as switching be bulbs around, I have been only using the high output 64Ks through the whole cycle for my first T-5 grow and the results are looking good. So give it a try before you spend more money. There are some threads about T-5 grows you should check out.

Clones dont seem to like a lot of light and heat in my experience, they dont like cold and dark either though lol. I have had the most sucess at 75* and low-med light levels.

This may or may not help. I use rapid rooters as well and probably use the same dome as you. I also use a heat mat, but I place a couple of mason jar tops between the tray and the mat. I put about a 1\4 inch of water at the bottom of tray. I take the dome off twice a day for about 15 mins. This I find helps the cuttings root faster. I place one 26 watt cfl about 1 foot above the dome and that is it. Takes about 10-14 days for roots to show.
Good luck.
PS I also use gel as a cloning agent and find that this works best compared to the powder and the stuff you mix yourself. But to each his own.

75f for me but i was cloning under a 70w hps and it worked great, i had to keep the domes on for a few extra days after they rooted but they are growing wonderfully now

Purchase the 6 or 8 tube T5, I bought a 6 and installed switches allowing me to turn tubes, in pairs, on or off. Wish that I had bought the 8 tube unit.

You can run the clones under 2 bulbs on and increase the lighting into the veg stage. This will allow you to use the fixture well past the seed/clone stage instead of it gathering dust between growing efforts.
