Flowering marijuana color

As I find the aesthetic value of marijuana important too, does the purple / blue / red / black color that some strains (pheno's of strains?) put out in flowering (for example Blueberry) is genetically determined by pheno? And how can you bring out the best of color in the plants when growing indoors? Just by threating them well? :chin:

Hey dre, i think that these traits are genetic, however stress can also cause color to change somewhat. I remember reading somewhere that (for blueberry anyway), the colors show a lot more when temperatures at night/lights off are reduced... Ill try to find the article and ill let u know...

edited to remove bad spelling mistake lol

the biggest factor of flower colors is genetics, but cold temps will usually get strains to blush a bit.

yeah.. i've technically purpled hempstar/stonehedge/ jack herer/ bubba kush (leaves turn bright orange/deep dark purple/black if you really get it down.. bud gets a tint of purple hue) and some others..
the big difference is that puprle genetics will 95% of the timp purple from the inside out where as artificially purpling a strain will purple it from the outside in..

a fan is only going to heat up your grow room when the lights are off. that fan motor is putting out heat as it pushes the air around. the only way to cool off a room below ambient is to add an air conditioner. Or you could just move further north!

i think he was talking about the extraction fan, which would cool the room.

The plant will transpire more when the air is moving and this will cool the plant. Ambient temp and internal plant temp are two different things.
The fan may be raising the ambient temp 2 degrees but the increased transpiration may be lowering the internal plant temp by 5 degrees for a net 3 degree drop.

Try to mimic the change from summer to fall as much as possible. Cooler temps later in flowering. Cooler daytime as well as nighttime temps would seem about right.
Leaves turn color in fall right(i know..leaves and flowers are 2 different things..if i's that big of a deal..don't trim the buds as much so your purple leaves stick out more :) )

or you could mix yoru water with food coloring...i knwo youve all done the trick with the flower or celery when you was in grade school ...as the water is absorbed by the plant it changes the color of the veins...havent tried it but figured itd be neat if someone did...make orange weed..lol
