this is also the way nature does it. the spectrum of sunlight gradually becomes more red as winter approaches due to the angle which it hits the atmosphere. same thing happens throughout the day with dawn and dusk allowing a lot of red light to reach the ground but not a lot of blue. but during mid day the blue spectrum reaches the ground along with the red.
