fluoros are immensely cooler than CFL. My 32W T-8 tubes get about 98 lumens per watt, whereas most CFL range from 55-70 lumens per watt, so there's more light, less heat, and the emitter is much larger, so it has more surface area and has a lot less power put into it per square inch of surface. Plus the way I have them sitting, the ballast is at the top, and the tubes are sitting vertical, so natural updraft cools them too via the "chimney effect". I've been really surprised how gentle they are, and yet how they are producing good results thus far.

Not so much in the corners..... but it depends on the height of your plants....

With a short dense canopy mebbe 1.5-2 ft tall plants, a few times I have slid fluros UNDER my plants resting on the top edges of the flower pots [I ebb and flow @ the time, so getting them wet was a non issue]

So now they are getting light from underneath as well, no LARF to trim/throw away

You can see it if you go back far enough in my thread...

nope..never said it was.. :joint:
.and I agree with you fully on using the duel spectrum lighting setup, I just never had the fundage for it..

thanks for the compliment!

well thats true cellardweller:joint: but it does not answer the author of the threads questions if mounting a flo in each corner is a good idea! ime it is not and mounting the 600 he already as vertical would be a better option , like this:woohoo:
