Ok so who wants to invite me over for a press party :) I built the clamp press, melting the plates into the rubber pads. That worked pretty damn well. But the plates I used on that are 300F+ only, so not a huge fan. I then went and bought a MIG welder, learned to weld via YouTube, cut down some square tube stock, some 1/8" sheet metal, spot welded a nut after drilling and tapping a hole, some construction adhesive and crudely made this on my 2nd night of welding ever, so please don't judge my prototype welds. This thing gets the job done! Now I just need plates that go even lower, these only go down to like 275F. Getting fantastic results, such an amazing taste. I had been pressing with a hair straightener and my hands, but it's nothing like this. The FLAVOR! It's like Live Rosin.

If you guys haven't tried Rosin, let alone dabbed, you're missing out on some mind blowing experiences with your medicine. Enjoy fellas!

 Buy's a mig welder, just to make a rosin press, Classic!!!!

Nice work CG looks like a fun project. Is that modified from an arbor press?

I went with the Irwin quick grip but haven't dismantled my hair straightener yet to mount the plates to the hand press. Rosin is def fun to make. Haven't done much with dried buds yet but I've been turning all my trim into rosin. Rolling up snakes of half dry trim seems to yield pretty good returns.

Unreg, what is the height of your tent and how far above the canopy are your LEDS? Inquiring minds want to know!!

DP, It is 6' tall and I have the lights approx 7-8" from top of canopy but a couple of tops are with 4" and don't seem to mind. One Illumitex Neosol NS and one LS lamp for a total of 350W.

DMT from Grindhouse Medical Seed Co is Steel's worked version of BOG's Sour Bubble

This I didn't know......thanks Cheeb :tiphat:

Appreciate all the good vibes on the tent and the feedback on preventing critters!

CG, looks like you are pressing with the big boys now :dance013: Quick question......where did you source the heating plates? I am not having much luck finding heating plates.

Lol!

I cant wait to see the results of this in about 100yrs from everyone doing this. People will probably be trying to do their own surgeries and shit. Oh some of the stupid shit i have youtube'd.

Pretty soon get your RN, Barbershop, or space rocket mechanic certification @ YT Tech.

Slow to veg and growth so stocky, one may ask if she's even growing. This girl throws massive green-blue, leaf patterns that may benefit from a trim; wide while vegging, then thinning out into bloom. Sporting huge stems, this variety has alotta lumber... Bud growth is slow and really kicks in in the 8th week, however she will end up packing on substantially more weight, with flowers foxtailing with a "bubbly" texture and literally explode, peeling back bud growth and making way for more! A cold dump will encourage purpling in some individuals. The high/stone is strong, great for indica lovers but with a bit of "head". The aroma and palette is what really distinguishes this line; a vibrant though rich, chemical, lemony, bubble gum and full kush nose that translates to flavor. This is the apitimy of rich tasting herb, GrindHouse most flavorful line yet. Each generation, 100 seeds were germed, indoors. Fully testing each gen. we are now @ our 3rd incross. Pedigree is Sour Bubble BX1 3I.

Peace be with you,
Steele"

I ended up getting a Hobart 140 from Northern Tool. I had heard the Lincolns had gone down in quality over the last few years with their newer low end models and saw nothing bad about the Hobart or Miller, they just happen to have the Hobart for $500. Added on a tank of Argon filled for around $150 and went to town. I used a little angle grinder to cut the metal, and most of the stuff is from Harbor Freight since it's so cheap, it's crazy. You might have to teach me how to weld in the near future! I'm just learning trial and error as I go, watching all the videos I can every night. I need to get some more 1/8" scrap steel though, all I have left is Stainless. I plan to make a really nice press plate that has an angle in it to direct the flow for easier collection. Might have to go and take some classes at a local college or something.

---

Unreg / JV - As far as where I got the heat plates from, they're just heating plates taken from 2" hair straighteners. They're really easy to take apart with a screw driver. I have been using Remington 2", I got a couple different models, but I suggest finding a brand that goes to a lower temperature. For pressing, you ideally want to be around 220-240F and the lowest these go is 275-300. I am working on a custom electronic controller that will solve the problem. Yes, these are then hooked up to some custom mounting tubes I fabricated attached to the 1 Ton Arbor Press with a set screw. I love tinkering :)

CG I'm with you on the tinkering thing, always prefer to build things on my own when I think I can do it. I have a mini air over hydraulic press I welded together using square tubing and steel plate used for a different application....forge welding. The dies aren't heated but is used to squish hot steel. It uses a 20ton bottle jack from harbor freight but the lack of self heating dies and the size/pressure is def overkill for pressing rosin. The arbor press seems perfect and I've thought about doing that as a project but haven't figured out what I would use for the heated dies. Let us know what you come up with if you modify it from the hair iron plates. I've seen some of the dies people are showing/selling on Instagram made specifically for rosin presses but they are a bit expensive...again rather just come up with something myself.

ill show ya whats up...ill have those welds looking like.stacks of dimes knocked over...
ill tell ya this much(thats if professor youTube hasnt already..lol)
but if for some reason ya outside,or indoors welding dont let the wind or a fan blow to much of that gas around, will make for voids in the weld, porosity sp. as well as sounding say "spatty" sounding ,as to where ya want that "sizzle/bacon" sound..
mig welding is fairly simple... congrats on the new toy,bud... :tiphat:

Thanks Unreg, I'm planning four 100W COB LEDs in a cab or tent so if 350W works for you I should be OK. Still thinking over that whole situation but I've got to make a decision fairly soon.

Wow, thanks for posting that up Cheeb, sure explains a lot of what I see in Triangle Trips! I've got three going now, two of the DMT leaning phenos (which I believe will purple with cold) that have thick stems, bushy growth with the dark huge leaves and one of the green phenos which is very different structurally, normal stem size with much lighter colored vegetation, smaller leaves and a much different growth profile - can't wait to flower that one and see what it's like.

Going through my seed collection has me itching to grow again. So many killer strains just waiting. Worst thing for a true grower is not having a grow op. Hopefully it wont be too much longer before I am at it again.

Luckily my hydro store is less than a mile from me but I have never had any issue with Clonex. I always buy in the foil packs though. Use and dispose of any leftover. I grow small and only 5 grows now but 100% success rate with Clonex in rockwool.

schultz rooting hormone powder

its the only thing ive used.....got 16 clones 4 days old and no humidity dome and all looking good. just scrape the bottom 1/2" of the stem and trim fan leaves and cut remaining leaves in half to reduce photosynthesis while roots form.

peace
