Lol!
I don’t know how you got that cloner to work for ya but that thing is 12 years old!
Got it from a shop in Orlando way back in ‘07, Botanicare brand, and it was a demo model so they gave it to me for like $50.
As long as I keep temps nice & lo, the slime stays away...

Looking at the cloner in HughMidity’s room got me wondering what the Florida crew does for cloning? Cubes? Plugs?
For the last year or so I’ve been running an “Oxycloner” that I modified with the addition of an Ice Probe water chiller. I keep my water temps around 70 and usually have root growth in 5-7 days. Soooo, how’re you guys/girls cloning?

Shit man.... call me old school, but I just soak my cubes for 24 hours in a tiny bit of vitamin b and clones solution or Olivia’s and I usually see roots in 7-10 days.... I dnt have a lot of time on my hands tho.... that’s a sweet set up al!!

Thanks for the kind words guys.

as for cloning i rarely loose any but i scrape the outer layer off the stem all the way around the stem up about 1/2", they get dipped in rooting powder then in rapid rooter type plugs that have been soaked in h2o w/some fresh aloe. i also cut all foliage in 1/2 to reduce photosynthesis since they dont have roots. no humidity dome, just off to the side of larger plants. after a few days ill give the roots a boost w/myco's and youll have massive roots on the clones.

on my last batch of clones i noticed that the plugs that the tops were covered in white fungas had tons of long white roots.

Rapid Rooters, Rootech (works the best for me) and a standard humi dome. Keepin' my system perpetual 09'!

I've been scraping the stem like that for a while now and it really does seem to help, especially on the tougher branches.

I prefer rooting gel over powder because the gel will seal the bottom cut and help stop air getting in stem. Air in stem is one of the largest contributors to clone deaths IMO. When I cut I take several at a time and I cut them longer than I need and immediately into water. Once I have 5-6 cut I scrape the stem where I plan to make the final cut. Then cut it and immediately into gel to seal the wound.

Since I'm in Hydro I use rockwool instead of rapid rooters for the cuts. Humidity dome open vents after 2 days remove dome after 4.
Rarely takes longer than 7 days to have plenty of roots.

Asslover,

clones done this way are fragile for the 1st 4 days so i water w/a syringe and bottom feed. if they get bumped in the first 4 days they can die fast so be careful.

even hard to root plants root this way w/no problem.

Edit: to scrape use a steralized/clean razor and w/the blade pointed up scrape the stem. it will have a coarse feel at first and as soon as it is smooth stop. the blade should have like fine threads of stem grouped up, no chunks. if you scrape too heavy they will not make it.

Cloudcap bred by dynastygenetics. Three phenos this run….looks like one of them may finish 55 days...so that one got a good flush (3 gallons water @ 5.8 pH). With my limited experience I have found most hybrid varieties I have grown average 65-70 days so this one caught me off guard. Guess on the other two are 70 days like usual.
