You can pick up a universal ac adapter just about anywhere. I got mine at Walmart. Mine puts out 3-12 volts and if I keep it on 7,5 volts you cant even hear it running, and I run 2 fans on the same adapter.
computer fans can usually be run at 6-12 volts. You need to look at your fan and check to see what the listed voltage is (usually 6-12) and the listed amperage. It will most likely be listed in mA (milliAmps). This can usually be found at the center of your fan but maybe somewhere else too.
Now you either find a 6-12V accessory that has the AC/DC adapter laying around like an old cordless telephone or answering machine or you go to an electronics store and buy one. Whichever way you go, you chop off the end of the cord and splice the wires. If they're n wrong, the fan won't run. If they're on right, the fan spins. i'll leave the finer points to the electricians on here about connections and such. make sure whatever adapter you use has a higher mA capacity than your fan. as the poser above said, you can use multiple fans off one adapter as long as the adapter is rated higher than the combined mA ratings of the fans.
6V, is IMHO, the lowest voltage you should go for these fans, and will run them the slowest and quietest. 12V will run them at full power and move about the advertised airflow of the fan. I haven't experimented with higher voltages, worrying about burning out the components/ getting the wiring too hot.
You should check out the microgrowers forum on here as well. Lots of people with small enclosures utilizing not only PC fans, but also scrogging and LST (low stress training) techniques. Read a lot then read some more. There are a lot of growers who've basically put together tutorials on all these subjects.
Remember, Even if they're small, they'll smell. Invest in a carbon filter or build one yourself with help from some of the links I provided.
Stealth growing in dressers is very possible. Did it for about a year in an apartment with a cool tubed 150w HPS in a 30"X 15" dresser with a 30" tall main cab and an 8-9" tall electric/fan section.
If you have a little extra cash, check out 'darkroom louvers' in the bigger (I think 8"x8") size. An adequate intake will make cooling everything much easier.
headroom refers to the overhead space you have to work with. i don't think i've ever grown anything that would fit in that cab at the end of veg, much less after it stretches. in fairness, i am pretty much the opposite of a micro grower, so my opinions there should be viewed as such.
It depends on the size of your cab. You need at least 50 watts per square foot for flower and about half that much for veg. I like the 26 watt bulbs better because you can spread the light more evenly and can find them anywhere.
when doing things/threads like this its always an imperative to give the proper dimensions of the space you are going to use or convert. what you will need; what you can or cant use; should or shouldn't grow are all factors that greatly affect your outcome and success rate.
im sure you'll end up doing a ScrOG, do your research, you'll find it can/would yield you the most. don't limit yourself by thinking that you can only grow "this much"; maximize your space!! it has been done before and is being done now.
I would suggest hydro, the most you'll need is a pH tester and those are fairly cheap, don't forget your microscope to check trichomes come harvest time.
try to think "outside the box" as much as you can (ie - mylar isn't the only thing that reflects light; buckets aren't the only things that hold water).
oh and btw, don't be fooled by these ppl with thousands of posts, it really doesn't mean shit at the end of the day. do your research, have a basic knowledge base of your own so that you have some manner of knowledge to compare against the advice you are given.
don't rush anything!!! if you can, try to grow something else in the dresser so you can see how things function before you put your "paid for" beans in there. watch/monitor your levels (heat, pH, etc.)
Remember man, loose lips sink ships. Trust not a single soul imho.
If anyone does know, tell them that you dropped a bowling ball on it or you got scared and quit, or that they died.
Just remember to be safe and roll this thought around in your noggin for a while.
Thanks teh master the only person that knows is the person i got the beans from. The ONLY. And he doesn't even know where i live. My fiance who i live withdoes not even know
And i think I'm going to give 12/12 from seed a try. Anyone have any good links for how to hook up my exhaust? Ill get some pics tomorrow for yall
