Hey cd80. Great to see another closet grower getting on board.
Folllowing the thread and sorry I have to say this but when someone hears the word closet they immediately panic & think of an oven.
My space is exactly like yours. I grabbed 2 of those 400w HPS with the batwind reflector and remote ballasts. The ballasts don't even heat up, compared to 3 100-150 watters I removed. My temps are glued to 71 deg F with the lights on.
I took the batwings and bent the edges to hold glass and left the ends open. I have fans on the floor of the closet drawing from under the door (2" gap from door to carpet) x 36 wide = 72 sq. in. intake. I also have fans venting out the ceiling into the attic. If that isn't an option you could do like you were talking about - get replacement doors and store theirs, and install vent grills in top & bottom of the doors. I would think you would only need vents at the top of the doors.
Here's a diagram of what I had to work with to give you some ideas.
And here's some of the product.
Good luck on your grow - pop into chat anytime if you have any other thoughts or just want to exchange ideas.
