I think they are looking a bit better... the new growth seems to be greener on the 3rd pic, usually it will take the plant a few days to respond to a transplant... Good luck!

update... things seem to be getting slightly better. the ones that were in best condition originally are putting on new growth. some of the worse off ones seem to be hanging on. the one in the second to the last picture got incredibly greener in the last day.

have a couple of questions...

1) I know this may seem kind of obvious, but what's the best method to water? Previously I've just poured the water into the top of the pot alongside the stem of the plant, but with the new soil it's so airy that the water just goes straight through. Would it be better to fill up a dish or something with the water and let them sit in it a few minutes to soak it up from the bottom?

2) I have all the cfls on a board inline with each other with a small chain attached to it so I can lower and raise the lights. The way this is situated only a limited number of the plants can be directly under the lights, so is it best to have the plants which are in good health under the most intense light and those that are recovering in the weaker light?

IMO:

1.the way you are watering seems to be ok, as long as you water until it falls through the bottom then, you know the roots are getting what they need. i think they would be too young to handle the water that is run off pH wise, but then agian how strong coudl it be?

2.as long as they are getting light its gonna be ok, the thing is, they are not gonna repair the older bottom growth but you have to be patient and see what the new growth is gonna look like to see the positive changes. definitely pH your water though, and a little of that superthrive isnt a bad idea either.

remember, with soil, you are not gonna see results right away. if anything you will see the changes and it will be through the new growth. ana little "wooo-saaaah" on your part wouldn't be a bad idea either. relax!!! burn one when you take care of you r plants,it will relax you and gie them a lil' CO2 on the exhale. happy returns to you

Well, there were dramatic changes overnight. All plants are showing signs of new growth and all but two are now a very dark green. I'd venture to say that whatever was wrong has now been corrected, thanks to everyone for all the help. I'll have pics up soon.

I'm having the same exact problem. I have a few young plants that are getting brown on the tips and are fading a bit on the older leaves. I have to get me some new soil pronto! The soil i'm using is crap and I'm pretty sure that's the reason...

I'm glad your babies have perked up - I hope to visit this thread soon and see more progress!
