Hi all... I received these Nirvana PP, Mandala SQ and freebie SADP x Skunk 1 on 31st. Dropped them in water for 24 hrs then used the paper towel method until they had a nice little root coming out. Put them in red party cups on sept. 2nd. I think they were all above soil by the 4th. I had them under 3 26 watt daylight cfls, but they weren't able to evenly distribute light to all the plants so I added another 3 soft white cfls. The closest the lights have been to the top of the plants is about 3 inches. Within the last few days I've noticed the tips of the leaves turning brown and fading from green to yellow. Every day I misted the top of the soil to keep it moist. Haven't given any nutes and have used bottled spring water. I'm not sure what the soil was called(not MG), but it has no added nutes and I mixed perlite into it.

I've looked around on this site and I think I must be overwatering... not sure what else it could be, any ideas? also do these look to be about that right size that two week old plants should be?

I uploaded pictures of them to my gallery but it's telling me "1. Your Post contains one or more URLs, please remove them before submitting your message again." but they're in my gallery... so just click on it I guess.

If the root is damaged-there is unfortunately nothing smart U can do... Try putting pics with Image shack.

Please don't use imageshack or similar, as this is an easy way for the leo to trace all of our ip addy's . Use the gallery feature on this site.

thanks a lot everyone. well a little bit more bad news, I had surgery this morning and my dad had to drive me home from it and hung out with me until the anesthesia wore off, so I had to turn the exhaust fan off for about 14 hours. that coupled with the heat wave we've had over the last week seems to have made a couple of the plants wilt even more, but hopefully they'll recover.

gvbh,

Your plants are gonna be fine. Stop misting them so much or at all. If things get more yellow then gingerly transplant them into better soil immediately.

Your lighting sounds fine.

Make sure you have a little breeze on them just enough to give them a little quake....to strength the stem and encourage better rooting.

I think 18/6 is best, but you could do 24 if you felt the need.

many thanks for all the help. I've been considering switching them to 18/6, but since they've been at 24/0 for two weeks would it have any negative affect on them?

alright, switched to 18/6, off during the hottest 6 hrs of the day, that ought to help a bit. also noticed that the soil was REALLY compacted, so I held the cups between my hands and gently loosened it up.

Just one more thought bro, and it's kind of serious...the plant's night period cannot get hotter than its' day. Something to avoid.

Well dude....transplant quickly into 4 inch pots that drain well..new soil with extra perlite (think air air air for the roots to breathe)...also they need some nutes PDQ.....and a root stimulant as well....I would probably foliar feed with some kind of kelp/sea weed - something to green them up right away.

It looks like they are starving and the roots are not happy(like they might be too wet from not enough drainage in those cups). Obviously they are not producing Chlorophyl and I would assume therefore they will starve to death.

If they were mine I would transplant into FFOF soil(amended with 33%-50% additional perlite) then I would water the fresh transplant with the stuff on the left in this pic. endo/ecto mycorrihizae - aurorainnovations.com

If absolutely nothing else...feed them a veg food...they look like they may have burned out all their N.....and make sure you have AMPLE drainage holes in those cups.

And if you are misting these...stop it, over-doing it will wash the the N right from the leaves.

Let us know what happens.

alright, went to to orchard supply earlier and picked up an organic soil, some organic ferts 6-4-4, a giant bag of perlite, and a bottle of superthrive. they didn't have any of the soils or nutes you guys recommended, so i got what appeared to be the best substitutes. going to transplant them as soon as the lights turn back on here in about 30 mins. will give an update in the morning.

transplanting went well. I could swear that they already look to be getting some of the green back in them. Watered them with nutes+a drop of st. hoping to wake up to more improvements tomorrow.

o.k., you have transplanted, watered and fed them . now it's time to stand back and let them grow themselves .
i dont recall whether you have been checking ph of the feed mixture and the run-off, but it's a pretty good idea, especially if things dont look right, and it doesnt stress the plant at all.

Good Job.

Ph tester sounds alright, but don't break your bank. Possibly the last thing you need right now is a new tool that might help you to Over-Love your babies. If you stay within dosage recommendations on the labels and your water is relatively normal you should be just fine. But I agree with Green_Grow, if things don't look better...then go on to more advanced metrics.

For now...don't Over-Do Anything...especially water/food. That watering after transplant should last them several days.

Cool Mon' hope all goes well. Way to expedite things, even right after surgery!
