Ive had good success with simple cloning powder and moist pro mix. I used 16 oz dixie cups with holes in the bottom, an old 2-3 gallon aquarium with perforated saran wrap on top, and about a .25 inch of water on the bottom at all times. Small CFLs were used and I waited until I saw new plant growth before transplanting-it was about 2 weeks to do this, if I remember correctly.
Recently a friend of mine successfully cloned by simply sticking the cutting into moist pro mix with no rooting hormone. Same setup of standing water with perforated saran wrap over it.
I think patience and a much weaker light source will do you wonders-the plant is using stored energy to produce roots, not photosynthesis, so you need just enough light to spur new growth once roots are set.
Keep at it, youre on the right track!
