yeah im starting seedlings so i will do that then, my next question were about container sizes.. im not sure when to transplant them into the different sizes or even which sizes to use the whole time. i have 5 gal buckets for the final weeks just dont know when i should be putting them in there. and also i was going to ask everyones opinion on those biodegradable planter cups and if those are any good for getting a good root base or if i should just be transplanting out of those into another container after a few weeks
Thatsa very good question. Personally I like to step them up to avoid putting a tiny rootball into a huge container because watering properly becomes trickier than normal. If you can transplant without disturbing the rootball at all, I see no reason not to step them up a few times before the final pot size.
yeah i figured id be stepping them up but i junst didnt know if there was any like rule of thumb like the first 2weeks they are in the small one then move them up to 2 gal containers for a certain number of weeks just an idea so i didnt stunt them or anythingg.... my next questions are about a few additives i got and when i should be using them annd exactly how lol but i picked up bat quano that was high phosphorous and then i also got some marine cuisine too just not sure when to add these
hey guys no one got back to me about my last question but i figured id throw a little update even though i dont have any pictures for you, they are almost 2weeks old now and im not sure how soon i should be moving them to bigger containers. thoughts?
Some growers say you can step them up as soon as you see roots in the drain holes. It does seem like they veg faster if you avoid letting them get rootbound. I think Subcool recommended to go from seedlings/clones up to 1 gals then up to 7 gals. He was growing just a few topped and trained plants under 1000W tho.
Sorry I can't advise as far as the additives. I am using plain soil mix + organic liquid ferts trying to see if I can pull that off.
welll they are at the drain holes so i guess ill be getting that done today, thanks man good luck with the organic ferts i am excited to see how my soil mix does!
i cant imagine slugs are to good for your plants but i constantly have the crawling around my plants on the undersides of the containers and stuff, is there any quick solution for keeping these suckers away?
I've never had slugs before but I've had ants and sow bugs. The diatomaceous earth is a desiccant for any crawling insect and arthropod. It works for slugs too because it is a mechanical pesticide that deteriorates the outer layer of the insects and dehydrates them to death. It also has the benefit of silica so no need to buy another supplement.
