First Microgrow Stealth Cab Planning

Designing and building a cab is a lot of fun and a lot of work! I have recently 98% completed my first grow cab (and am growing in it) inspired by Anti's and the old NGB from OG which I believe is a sticky in the microgrowers forum. As you can see there are several methods with compelling reasons for utilizing those methods for just about every aspect of a grow or cab. One way or another may or may not necessarily be the "best" way, so I suggest not getting too terribly wrapped up in it. Good buds are grown in soil, organically in soil or soilless, or hydro and all of the different ways of doing each of those. Search the forums and you'll find people getting good buds with PLL, CFL, HID, MH, LED, and the BOB. Just learn as much as you can, make your design and run with it! I think you're in for helluva ride!

Actually there are some major updates. I got a financial windfall letting me invest in LED's for the cabinet. This seemed to solve the heating issues while giving me 240 watts for my little space. All that's left is to get the fan and lights in and mounted, and give the cab some test runs.

Go Karl can't wait to see some updates, i also broke down and finally started a grow box lol just a little bit bigger. growing indoors after so many years is kinda scary to start again lol GL to you and keep the updates coming.

which LED are you getting? the 240w blackstar on ebay? i've got two of those, they work, the plants can touch the fixture.

You will have to vent the heat out of the top of the cab. LED is famed for no heat, but they really mean that the heat is directed upward. Your also going to have to use hooks and chain on the fixture to get it to go to the max height, they come with wire hangers that are about a foot long.

CFL's the easiest to purchase but most expensive option, when you factor in how many you have to buy, plus the fixtures... the stuff adds up, plus when a bulb goes out.... I realized i had spent like $150 on all the crap, when i could have just ordered a t5 4x4 for the same price and much better results. With LED you don't have to keep spending money on bulbs.

check out my sig. and look at both of my boxes. both are within your specs and both could be used for either veg. or flower. you can do just about anything as long as you have an idea of just what you want.

So I'd only be able to use the 250/400 HID vertically. No idea how to do that. Moving on.

That leaves me with 8*42 (336 Watts) of CFL's or a 150 Watt HPS system.
It seems that I am getting half the lighting with the HPS, so I don't see the benefit in performance here. Is there something i'm missing?

maybe this will shed some light on what your talking about.

the second pic would be more along your specs and there is a 250watt MH/HPS in there w/ the 4 inch inline and there is room for a scrubber there if I need 1 but its only a veg. cab so I don't normally run 1 in it. I'm sure you could run something vertically in there if you wanted to. I have a 400 in the first pic.
