First Indoor Attempt - Pistils forming

Thanks everyone for all the great information and wonderful pics.

First indoor grow attempt, prop 215 compliant.

I have never had to deal with male or hermaphroditic plants before, so I am wondering if that is what the following pictures represent. Male? The images should open a new tab and get larger when clicked. Sorry, all I have is an old cell phone camera - but if you click the pic after it opens in a new tab, it will get even bigger and more visible.



My timer stopped working and I did not realize it until, well I am not sure how long it did not work. Either way, it has been getting barely 10 hours the last few days and I am wondering if that is what has caused these little pistil's growing from where the new leaves are. They are about 2 months old, from local bag-seed. This was not planned, just kind of happened so I have no journal.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Pistils= female (Pistils are the hairs like in your pics)

Balls= male

The balls look more like a cluster of bananas once they start to develop

They got so big I had to split them up, 3 in that shower now instead of 7. Pics coming soon.

Moved outside for Summer and harvested a week or so ago. Now its just patience and more patience as it cures for the next 30-90 days. I sadly lost the 2 largest flowers(big as my forearm!) to fucking caterpillars. I did not notice the shit until it was too late and they had devoured the inside and their feces started molding. Now I have left mostly popcorn but its better than a total loss. Next year BT "WILL" be in use!

First actual dedicated attempt at growing other than letting nature take its course. Opinions, suggestions, etc. are encouraged.

grats on 1st prop 215 grow! do you have any pics right before harvest or are these them? BT helps a lot as well as tobacco/water/soap mixes. growing marigolds around the base of your plant will help as well. these plants contain pyrithiums (sp?) which will detour insects, especially ones that have a life stage in the ground.
if you can gets some clones going or some teens from the clubs, veg them for 1-2 weeks and toss them outside and you should have a small harvest around xmas/new years. dont know your area, but i think it shouldnt be too cold or humid to pull it off. otherwise take a lil bit of time and buy/build a cab/tent and go indoors. just remember, build test then put plants in.

Pic 1 is the day before harvest and the last 2 pics are from about 9 days prior. I was out there twice a day with my loupe staring blankly for long periods of time. Such a satisfying plant to grow and so beautiful. haha I used a soap/tobacco/neem blend but the caterpillars just laughed at me. I am in San Diego inland valley so I should be good all winter for outdoor I think(plus I converted my guest shower, mylar, fans, etc. for a veg room, just no good lights yet.), as long as the clones are strong enough by then I will cover with burlap on real bad days. Marigolds! Why didn't I think of that! I plant them in between every couple of pepper plants and around every door to my home(along with Lemon Grass as that supposedly helps deter the killer carnivorous flies around here I will try to get a couple more pics up then some post-dry pre-cure pics. haha

sounds like you did a lil bit of homework if you were already using tobacco mixes. sucks that mother nature didnt want to play nice for you. its been a while since i was down in your neck of the woods but i figured you should be good all winter. i live about 800mi N of you so get down that way every once in a while. if you can get a lil bit of money, head to lowes/osh/home depot and find a 100-175w MH and convert it to a remote ballast. there is a diy thread in the growroom design section. you can rig one with < 100$ and a lil bit of elbow grease. hell if you want a cheep hood hit up your local pet smart/petco/ large pet chain and take a look in the reptile/fish section and take a look and what they have. my 1st light was a 150w HPS that i wired remotely and slapped on a 'over tank' hood from the reptile section. spent about 120$ on everything, including some tools i didnt have. this could be done for less if you have tools/wire laying around. just reinvest your meds into your system, even if its just setting 20$ in a jar every time you pull out a nug to smoke it adds up. hope this helps you and good luck.
