First Grow..

Well heres some pics from my first grow. Currently running a 600watt HPS with an Ushio. Got a 400cfm fan/filter.

Trying to figure out why the leaves are drooping and some burns it seems. Maybe I got water on the leaves to cause the spots?

So let me get this right you are in the process of growing and you are in veg correct. If I am right with what you said then why would you be using a 600 watt hps for veg. You should be using a mh bulb or something with a different spectrum.

First thing that comes to mind. 600 watt hps for plants this small, is quite a LOT.

i agree.

i tend to start them off with soft lighting, maybe a 100W , then slowly build them up to stronger lighting. you can use a 600 with seedlings, but if its your first grow, there is more chance of error with such strong lighting.

At this early stage, its all about establishing a root system, to support the plants future growth.

Also, hopefully you have some holes in them cups? Make sure the soil can breathe, and not too heavily watered. Less water means the roots will go looking for water, helping to establish a bigger root system.

Keep an eye on temps if using a 600W .
Also feed only when the cups feel light. Ive read plants have enough food/nutrients in them for first few set of leaves.
When i start seeds, i find it too easy to give em too much love, and try feeding them too much.

Your doing a good job, All looks good m8.
i'll take a seat and follow along if thats ok.

Yea 600w does seem like a bit much for seedlings but if it's all you have you gotta go with it. If you have a ballast that you can dim though definitely keep that thing on 50% so you don't burn the babies. Looks good other than that, good sub and come along for the ride if that's cool.

eh that light will work just keep it high from the plants, looks a little overwatered slightly, id water half the pot and leave half dry until they pick up and get bigger.

soil may be a little rich but they should grow into it fine as they get bigger.

What kind of soil feed?

Just a tad bit of heat stress looks like, hows your temps? what size tent?

I agree with Tony and tasty. Back the light off if possible. Seedlings can't handle a ton of light intensity in my experience

They really don't look bad though.

When I started growing all I had was a 600w and I grew seeds fine under it. Keep it at a good distance is all.

They look pretty good to me man. It looks like they are still pretty damp, I think I would hold off on watering from what it looks like. Pick them up and gauge the weight to get an idea of how wet they are.

In my rooms, the light does not go up and down. It is fixed to the ceiling for max headroom. I have the trellis adjusted so my canopy is where I want it in relation to the lights.

Not the only way to do it but I like it the best.

Plants need less light intensity while in veg because they are exposed to light for more hours.
