Finally getting everything started, good to see, I will be here for the fine show. I think I am as excited as you are Rellik, I can't wait to see how all you experiments turn out.
I will be starting my grow next week, JLP's Amnesia 99's just got here(woo hoo!).
Good luck with everything.
Rule35sub1
Joe, MLB, DS- Thanks for all the kind words guys. Just waiting for my babies to show their little heads now. They've only been in soil now for just over 24 hours. Patience is the rule here!
Speaking of Rule- Thanks for the good vibes, bro. I know that Amnesia99 is going to be a sweeeettt plant. Can't wait to get mine beans for those too. Haven't been to the mailbox since last Friday but as of then, they still hadn't gotten here. It looks like everyone else got theirs so hopefully mine are there now. Best of luck with your upcoming grow as well, Rule. Ain't it great to see all us new growers take the big plunge? You bet it is and if Gypsy and all those active in the cannabis community can continue to add more and more growers, we will overgrow these Marxist bastards that make our laws!! Try busting an entire nation your dick wads!!!!
Looking great and love how u go so in depth about things, i like the claim of how to tell male and female. might give it a go, c what happen. keep up the good work.
Rellikbuzz, Does'nt look like you lost your touch. Thanks for coming out of retirement to show us young punks how to grow (old school) with a pinch of the new. Been looking at the t5's for early progration myself, nice to see first hand how they are gonna work out. Looking forward to this thread. Good Luck!
Marley and Wags- Thanks for the good words. I hope you'll keep checkin' in from time to time to see what's going on!
Speaking of what's going on . . . not much at all right now but I guess that's to be expected. My beans have been in their medium for about 55 hours or so right now and they still haven't broke the soil. I elevated my seedling tray about 3/8" above the heat mat but it still gets a bit too hot to leave the mat on all the time. So, about three times a day I go in there and turn on the mat for about 45 minutes to an hour and then turn it back off again. The heat mat really evaporates the moisture too. I have had to mist the jiffy pellets/seedling cups a couple of times already. They never did dry out completely but I could tell that the weight lightened up a bit. So, right now we're in a holding pattern still waiting for the stars of the show to appear. Does anyone have any ideas on how long it make take for them to break ground? Remember, I did not germ them in a paper towel or anything first. Just soaked overnight and then planted them directly into the medium.
hi everyone! holding thumbs for you, Rellikbuzz! and sucking up all this incredible info like a sponge! i really hope there will be something even remotely similar to share about my very first grow also...
I would look at using Rapid Rooters also. I have had poor luck with Jiffy7 pellets.
I wouldn't worry so much about the heat mat. Your in my neck of the woods(cold and wet) and inside so the ambiant temp in the closet should be fine and the ballast from that light setup will generate alot of heat. I'll sometimes set the prop. tray on top of my flouro ballast to serve as a default heat source. The dome is the way to go until they are established.
If those beans are not sinking on their own just pop them a bit and that should break the surface tension and let them fall.
Allllrrrriiiiggghhhhttt!! The Ganja Gods are smiling down on me now that Texas Kid has spread his good karma on my thread! TK, if it hasn't been for the knowledge and inspiration that you, BOG, Resdog and So Quick (just to mention a few) have passed on to me, then I know I wouldn't have the confidence to start this grow in the first place. You truly are a Master Grower and, as a fellow Texan, are my mentor! I can't tell you how honored I am to have you tune in to see what I've got going here. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, brother! :friends:
Hello again all- Well, it's been a little over three days and 'lo and behold' we have two little babies showing their cute little heads! Interestingly enough, they are both Reeferman's Blue Thunder and they are the two I planted in the Jiffy Pellets. Blue Thunder's 4 & 5 made their appearance this afternoon (much to my relief ).
Can't wait until some of the others show what they've got! As things progress, you can bet I will update accordingly. Looks like the show's on the road!!!!!
hi again! good going! i'm learnig as you go here there is so much to read and learn and you have to grab on to something. eveyone is doing something differently and it's hard to decide which way to go. i hope you do not mind if i copy some of your moves? just soaked my first seeds... i'm really counting on your support here too! i'm happy to be in the middle of somewhere... somewhere, where all the exiting stuff is happening... keep up the good work!
Kingslayer - Thanks, man. I have to say that I am a proud Papa indeed. I'm already getting attached to the little buggers. Damn, aren't they just cute as hell at that stage?
Aprold - First of all, best of luck on germing your babies. As far as you using anything you see here, feel more than free to do so, bro'. If you can benefit by anything I am doing here, then I will feel honored. We are "newbies" together in this thing, you and me, and we "newbies" have to stand together and honor those who have taught us so much here by having success with what we've learned from them! Let's put on a grow that shows them that their time and efforts here on ICMag are definitely not going to waste!!!!! :friends:
Truecannabliss - Welcome to my first grow, bro'. Yes, I am excited as well about the Blue Thunder. Reeferman's seeds are simply jumping out of the soil! Five for five on his beans!! Kudo's to ya Reeferman! You obviously do good work and Zepplindood gave Blue Thunder the big in chat last night. He had some rather glowing things to say about it. Blue Thunder is a Blueberry Sativa x Kodiak Gold (aka Mantanuska Tundra) and Zepp says that his Blue Thunder is more Blueberry tasting than his true Blueberry is. He keeps a Mom of Blue Thunder around to keep it in his grow at all times. Also says that it is very easy to grow and pretty tolerant. Let's hope so as this "newbie" grower is likely to screw something up along the way!!
I thought I would post a brief update as a few new things have turned up! We are now up to 7 successful germinations. As I mentioned previously, all five of Reeferman's Blue Thunder have broken ground but are now joined by one Apollo Mist and one POK Kush x Critical Mass.
The Blue Thunder #4 (shown in the middle of pic) is way ahead of the others. It's about 2 1/2 - 3" tall already and has a long tap root (probably 3" long) thats already come out of the jiffy pellet. I just hope that this strong beginning doesn't mean we have a male in our midst already but only time will tell.
Earlier today the jiffy pellets and the seedling cups were a bit dry so, using a turkey baster, I added a bit of the original solution that I used to moisten the soil mix and the jiffy pellets. This solution is 4 drops of Superthrive, 1/4 tsp. of Advanced Nutrients Voodoo Juice and a few drops of liquid dishwashing liquid (as a wetting agent) to one gallon of water that was PH'd to 6.2.
The interesting thing is that the PH of the solution some how rose to almost 7 while sitting in the bucket since Monday. Not sure how this happened but that works well since the PH of the medium is quite acidic and it will help raise it into the 6.2 - 6.3 range.
Throughout this grow I will be using the Advanced Nutrients 2+ Program exclusively. With the exception of Superthrive which I will use (per Mike at Advanced Nutrients) through the veg stage and then I will switch to AN's B-52 supplement during bloom. In addition to the 2+ program I will be adding their newest supplements: Tarantula (a formula containing 57 different beneficial microorganisms) and Scorpion Juice (acts as a vaccination against diseases and stress). In an upcoming update I will include a pic of the Advanced Nutrients as well.
Things are starting to get interesting guys! Should be more babies by tomorrow. If so, you'll be the first to see them!
Hey Rellikbuzz, congrats on the new setup and grow. With the thoughtfulness you've shown so far I'm sure you'll have an abundant harvest!
You might want to lighten up on the ferts so early in life, the seed provides plenty of nutrients for the first several days, plus the baby roots are very sensitive. I just plant directly in a sterile soilless mix and use plain water. But I'm a simple guy, too.
Gday Relikbuzz! Wow, can you whip me up a grow room that looks like that too please
hahaha just kidding bro, all the best, im looking forward to the Blue Thunder, sounds like a keeper.Hope she does you proud
