hola peoples.

just went for my first grow attempt and went through every bad situation imaginable, poliZe, nosey neighbor, but in any case my babies are okay but my original plans were foiled. would like to share my grow anyway. i've enjoyed watching a lot of the grows and i've learned a lot so far just from sitting on the forums, has helped me come up with ideas and keep a heads up on things. thanks to everyone. would appreciate any pointers. noob witha can do attitude. yadada? :joint:

set of babies, i think alaskan thunderfucks...

i think these are the critical mass.

coco in cocotek pots.

assorted babies, less impressive. white lightning, trainwreck, sensistar, grandaddy purple, and hindu kush.

transplanted into cocoton. (just canna coco + hydroton.)

serenity.

movin along...

the stars...are green.

found that their roots shot thru sooner than planned, so i put them back in their old home temporarily.

under the temporary setup.

close uP.

2 critical mass, 2 alaskan thunderf*cks, and a trainwreck in the middle.

head of the class ready to be moved :[. (after they were found) sadness.

the other babies, lookin better than before.

may turn these into mothers.

has anyone used the cocotek pots in a hydro setup? (i saw someone here do an ebb n flow with cocopots, i think. that was pretty cool.) curious as to what other people did with them.

thanks for stopping by.

sorry cant help ya much as I use coco in pots or beds and not coco pot... but they should treat you welll.... just have a plan ready for if you cant keep the roots in the inside of the pot.

And oh yeah... welcome to the forum

I have wanted to try the coco pots....would make transplants a lot easier.

looks like you're off to a good start...I'm gonna tag this one

VT - definitely made my life easier. i just transferred the little 3" cocopots into the 6" ones with cocoton once the roots shot thru. [after the neighbor found my garden] i ended up having to transplant all the cocopots from their ghetto-fab-shallow-temporary-bubblers into a giant rubbermaid filled with coco/aeromix for transport the next morning. drove them 50 miles away to their new home and they looked super happy on arrival. if it weren't for the cocopots i would have probably stressed them and myself out.

coco fo sho.

the plants look great turtletron...
i use the 6" coco pots as liners inside plastic pots and filled with loose canna coco. they keep all the coco inside the pots and my e&f trays very clean. transplants are very easy as well.

cocoton... i like that :joint:

Thanks for the feedback turtletron....dang...50 miles? You don't phunk around :D Better safe than sorry...you did the right thing....that's one of the reasons I ditched DWC and converted to coco....easy transport and breakdown....a full blown DWc setup can lead to crop failure if the plants need to be hidden and moved suddenly (for those who don't know....sadly, I do :( )

I never thought about it in that context...preventing clogging in plumbing...

omg. i opened my closet and i saw icmag.

omg. i opened my closet and i saw icmag.

gaiusmarius - your WW dripslab post is one of the first coco threads i checked out in the coco section and i was totally convinced to give coco a shot. i dig the simplicity you push, mon.

so i checked up on the ladies. i saw some bugs in the basement, need to prep the area for a tent... so in the meanwhile i turned the closet into the coco club. the plants have been thru epic adventures and i've decided to flip the babies quickly while i build THE TURTLE COCOTRONOTRON PANDA TENTZ0RZ FOR UBERNESS only. :joint: i'm not really sure what that is.

so... even at their new location, these ladies had to dodge intruders, this time the landlord decided to inspect the place. so everything had to be hidden and packed away. :dueling: bunch of them have already started showing hairs... to cut it short, i'm just glad these babes are alive/this healthy after all the unplanned situations that happened. i'll post the story some time on these very babies, a story you can light a J to and freak out.

welcome to the icmag n00b's only science fair

coco revolver
so i filled an ebb table with a buncha hydroton + coco/aeromix and sat the cocopotted plants in that. some of these are showing hairs have been stressed. may just hook up a timed drip from the res since i didn't get a cocomat, don't really wanna flood something i can't drain, si?

coco scrog attempt
so these babies weren't really lookin hot, i'm going to have to blame this batch on my co-parent.:dueling: heh. so i decided to pack all of'em into a mix of botanicare's aeromix + canna coco. not really expecting these ones to do well. [this one is sponsored by ikea and bed bath and beyond.]

the cocoton dwc and canna coco/aeromix.
dwc: alaskan thunderf*ck, hindu kush (smallest), trainwreck (up front).
giant tub: alaskan thunderf*ck and 2 critical mass. they've grown SO MUCH since the last time i've seen them.

beta of my next run. the culmination of sitting and watching all of your grows.
this is what i had originally been prepping for, i was going to scrap the whole idea and just grow them in soil, but i'm going to try and run at least 3 of these ladies. medium is cocoton in cocopots. i'm using the cocotek pots as netpots. i don't wanna spoil too much before i actually make the final setup but here's the preview. maybe it's nothin special, but i'm excited to see how it'll go. :chin:

i'm bummed that i couldn't have this garden setup the way i wanted for the first run, due to all the unplanned incidents. so i almost didn't want to come on here with this as my first grow but whatever. :joint: i have an arsenal of fun waiting for the next run, can't wait to put it to use. (warning: may include a co2 controller, two 600W HPS and one 400W MH in cooltubes, scroggin?, airstones, kick ass airpump, and coco)

i heart coco.

Do those DWC coco pots sit in netbaskets? Doesn't look like it.
I'm curious if the bubbler would eventually erode the coco pot causing everything to fall out....I suppose they handle the constant moisture and don't fall apart? I'd have them in netbaskets probably

Lookin' good

it will fall apart VT... might not till the roots start pushing down and through but he will have floaters in the rez

That's what I thought....

That's what I thought....

I agree Ono...
Earlier Forty Grit said he has his coco pots in plastic pots in Ebb/Flow
i use the 6" coco pots as liners inside plastic pots
In a flood drain there is some time for the pots to breathe a while...not in DWC...then there's the weight of the plant(s)...one could tie them like the MDWC guys do though (hanging the plants....like a lynchmob....lol)

I have outdoor hanging plants in coco baskets and they fall apart after a bit... I am always sweeping up underneath em.. I can only imagine how bad it would be in hydro

I love coco pots, they drain really well and dont bake the roots outdoors like plastic pots. Transplants are a breeze, you just burry the pot.

I use them to start my Japanese Maples clones too, but I eventaully burry the mini pots in plastic ones bc JM grow roots too slow for them to be in there long term.

DJ - thanks for sharing your pics. pretty plants, mon. omg. first time i ever saw a japanese maple i was on a shroom triP. such a BEAUTIFUL tree, nice small leaves, shit is just legit. (it's definitely a shroom compatible tree.) the leaves look so familiar :D. hmm... my friend has a japanese maple... any specific pointers on cloning the japanese maple?

they can be tricky to clones bc they are a hardwood plant when you clone, but soft wood clones can be taken in the summer too, but those are even more tricky.

They need to be cloned in low light/shade areas. I cloned mine in the garage with only secondary lights from my ceiling garage light, before I built the greenhouse with a partial shade cover.

They like to root in coco and perlite mix and dont like too much water. I do 50/50 coco and perlite in coco pots and they get great drainage, so I can control soil moisture very easy. Once they root burry the whole thing in a 1 gallon pot for the first year and half til it gets really mature. They grow slow. hope this helps.

Good luck with your own grows. Peace_highst

anonymous root voyeur. trainwreck is on the left, yesterday.

today: oh my god. :fsu:

i took a run to the infirmary sticky but i can't really put my finger on what this one might be suffering from? because it looks pretty jacked in general... look familiar to anyone?

i'm using house and garden aquaflakes A & B. pH'd at 5.5 res is roughly 75F.

champagne, appropriate for the holiday.

the critical mass ladies in canna/aeromix are looking nice. they were moved from 24 MH to 24 HPS after their epic journey/transplant.

birdseye view: fillin' out the tub! (2 critical mass + alaskan thunderf*ck)

alaskan thunderfuck in dwc.

alaskan thunderfuck in dwc.

the champagne's smell has those trainwreck/snowcappy/ak-47/-citrusy tones... except more. it looks like it just fell outta heaven, untainted. x_X. the smoke left in the room still smells like the bud! nice even high, i'd have to lean more with heady since i'm not couchlocked and motivated enough to be posting this right now. definitely not a downer.

i would love to grow this. :yummy: :yummy: :yummy: anyone recommend a seedbank for champagne?

happy 420 everyone. :joint:

Those coco pots in DWC are holding up much better than I thought they would...that's good to see....man those things are sturdy...
I thought Champagne was clone only?
The plants look great overall...
Nice work!
