First Breeding Run - PM showed up

Hi everyone! First post!!

So I started my first breeding run and currently on week 7. Pollinated a little late at the start of week 5. A few days ago I noticed what looked like PM showing up on some of the back plants on the lower leaves. RH gets in the mid 50s at night. It's starting to pop up on more leaves. My question is if I chop now and let dry will the seeds finish up while drying or should I try let it go a couple more weeks? Everywhere I've read says min 4 weeks from pollination to maturity. Only problem is if I let it go with the PM for 2 more weeks it could get ugly. So far it's only showing up on some of the lowers none of the top colas have any signs of PM.

Seed Whore
What I would do in your shoes:

  1. I would increase ventilation if possible.
  2. Let it run until they are done and the seeds are ripe.
  3. In other words, leave the plants go until they are basically dead.
  4. Harvest the seeds and throw all the weed out.
  5. Clean the hell out of your grow environment afterwards and try to figure out what happened.
It's best to let the plants go until they are basically dead if you want the most amount of viable seeds.:tiphat:
You'll notice the green shiny calyxes change to a golden/brown color and even dry up indicating they are mature.

Before cutting down any plant. I randomly test 5 to 10 calyxes for ripe seeds. If the seeds are good and dark.
The plant is cut down and seeds are ready. If the seeds are white, green, etc. I let the plant go longer.

Cheers

1. I don't think increasing ventilation will do anything for this run since it's already inside and spreading.

2. You don't think the PM will get out of hand in another 2-3 weeks?

3. Are you saying to stop watering now and let them go?

4. Yes wasn't going to do anything with the leftover material after harvesting the seeds so PM won't be an issue with that.

5. I gotta get a dehu probably before I start the next run to help keep the RH in check. Also the tent is in the garage near the washer/dryer so when those are running could be an issue but it never raised the RH that much in the past.

Thanks for your response!

If you're not planning on consuming the flowers (not recommended) spray them every 5 days with hydrogen peroxide to kill spores or you could use potassium bicarbonate every 5 days, I can't think of the rates off hand but the leaves will get tough and plants look ugly but you should be able to keep spores down or just let them go until seeds are done, I assume this is indoors and possibly you have cold air draft coming in or are reaching dew point at some point in the cycle.

I kinda wanted to stay away from spraying cause when some of the seeds start finishing I don't want them to germinate before I can harvest them. Also no cold air draft coming in that garage area it was mainly the high humidity from either the washer/dryer one day and it lingered cause it got up to like 62-65%.

er spraying buds wont make the seeds germinate, same thing happens in nature with rain storms gallore

Sucks ya got PM but if you do nothing to control it, it will become a health hazard.
You gotta knock down & kill the spores or your house will become infected and you will never have a PM free crop again.

If your medium is tested and ratios are good you shouldn't have issues because your plants will have all they need to fight off dis-ease.

Would you be adverse to spraying with just water several times a day just to knock off the spores? It slows it down somewhat but not great control.

The best would be let it go as long as you can and add a hepa filter before your outtake/exhaust. This way the spores can somewhat be filtered from spreading and cut them down as soon as you can. You will want to spray your room with bleach solution, cleaning all surfaces will be tricky especially fans and filters. If you can also do it, let the room get up to 35-40 degrees c after plants are out for at least 24 hours, mildew doesn't like to grow at these temperatures and if you can get the humidity up with no standing water you can get some spores to germinate then die from no host. Good luck, I hope you can contain it and not have issues in the future.

I have a bunch of different things I can spray with so I'll probably start that in rotation tomorrow cause I still need to go in there and chop down the male to let the seeds finish up.
