Finally bought a grow tent

Just revisited this thread due to referring to it in another thread. I owed some folks some thanks.

My tent is going to be used for carnivorous plants - fly traps & sundews - and maybe some small vegetables or flowers.

(only until the legal hits - Spring 2017)

The African Sundew seeds (Drosera Capensis) arrived today!

I'll try and get a pic posted of them (they look like tiny grains of dust)

Thanks for everybody's contributions & interest.

The seeds are smaller than pepper flakes - there's about 300 seeds in this little package. These came from Germany.

:woohoo:

Drosera capensis, commonly known as the Cape sundew, is a small rosette-forming carnivorous species of perennial sundew native to the Cape in South Africa. Because of its size, easy to grow nature, and the copious amounts of seed it produces, it has become one of the most common sundews in cultivation. D. capensis produces strap-like leaves, up to 3.5 centimetres (1.4 in) long (not including the petiole) and 0.5 centimetres (0.2 in) wide, which, as in all sundews, are covered in brightly coloured tentacles which secrete a sticky mucilage that traps arthropods. When insects are first trapped, the leaves roll lengthwise by thigmotropism toward the center. This aids digestion by bringing more digestive glands in contact with the prey. This movement is surprisingly fast, with completion in thirty minutes. The plant has a tendency to retain the dead leaves of previous seasons, and the main stem of the plant can become quite long and woody with time.

The Mrs. is the reason I'm waiting - the illegal part is a deal breaker on her part. Happy wife, happy life. I'm "out" as a smoker, but the growing has to be legal, or I'm minus a 30+ year relationship.

I'll wait - and live vicariously thru you fine folks :tiphat:

About 5 years ago(married 13), when I first started growing, I was in almost the identical position as you with Mrs. Merx. As my love for the plant outgrew my love for her, it emboldened me to....no, just kidding, none of thats true... No, with persistance, and by showing her the laws, on top of that fact I have no criminal record...I was able to eventually talk her into 2-4 plants at a time tops, so I could always have my own meds. I have the same tent as you, except mine's 6' instead of 5' high with the same vents, and passive intake. She's a goddess to me, and I'd drop it in an instant for her if it made her uncomfortable, but she seems perfectly fine with it now. I had to work out a contingency plan like it was Norad, with lawyer #'s etc...all ridiculous because 5 years later, she could care less. She gets that if you tell nobody, there's nothing to worry about. If no one knows, no one knows...you guys know, but they dont know, ya know?...:tiphat:

I hear ya - but it still ain't gonna happen. She's never been totally cool with the herb.

I'm a 40+ yr smoker, so I've always been perfectly honest about everything. Her world and my world have 1 point where they don't intersect & that is growing weed.

Respect is a 2 way street & I respect her wishes with regard to this. Her 1 sticking point is the illegal & I have nothing that can counter it. She's right, it is illegal.

It's NOT going to be illegal for much longer - that is my key. Once the cops can no longer kick down our door (melodramatic, yes, but technically correct), I'm good to go.

I'm really happy for y'all that have accepting partners - mine has stood with me thru a lot of stuff. This is 1 where no compromise is possible & I'm actually OK with it. I love her with a love that only 3+ decades of thick and thin can bring & am not willing to throw that away for my personal whim.

But my time is coming - I know it, she knows it.
