happening p'fan
hope everyone is having a kick ass summer, that dinner sounds ginding
i could go for some french toast right now brother! french toast w/lots of syrup and some crispy chicken strips

/yeah, im pretty high

Pass the joint over here my good man. Dinner was good, kids made a huge mess. The wife is a clean freak, so, it's frustrating for her when the kids help.

Unfortunately. summer always sucks for us. The wife only works a few hours a week when school is out, crops fail, gas prices go up. It's inevitable I will be broke. We are going back to salt creek beach in a couple weeks for a family reunion, that should be fun for all.

I am determined to make next summer, a summer to remember. I have 2 weeks of paid vacation, that has to be used . We are going to take the kids to legoland, and a few camping trips. Hopefully get out to the grand canyon for a weekend.

I am looking to take a week in Tahiti, or some other tropical private paradise for our 10 year anniversary. since she was 5 months pregnant with our 2nd kid, we didn't get a honeymoon.
Things are changing now that the wife is moving up to a supervisor position, and close to finishing her degree. She's working wonders.

I am with you 100%, nothing like a long Baseball season, cream rises to the top.

My Padres are young but it's been fun watching these kids play with enthusiasm, once we season these kids they will be contenders for the division, and hopefully more. But of course it's always about, pitching, pitching and more pitching.

Good afternoon rocker.
Yep a long season and a lot of games means the best teams get through to the post season.
The Brewers were in SD a while back and I remember seeing a lot of great young pitchers and position players on your team. I think SD is defenatly a team on the way up and the rest of the NL west should watch out when those kids put it all together. They will be a force to be reckoned with.
My Brewers are having nothing but bad luck and injuries this year but still only 2.5 games out of first so we shall see what happens in the next 6 weeks.

Damn Fiddy your Carnitas sounds just awesome, but I am much to lazy to do all that. I break it into steps myself.
I love to make Chicken tacos, I keep it easy. I use a Sous Vide to cook boneless chicken thighs in seasoning a pound or so per bag. I'll then keep the cooked chicken in the freezer, I thaw them as needed, toss onto the grill to sear them a bit, dice the meat and Taco Time.

Yes, I recall AB saying LST, not cutting is the way to go with Auto's. Unfortunately, I forgot that, and I assumed, my bad... I topped my Gas & Guns auto recently because it hadn't flowered, and I assumed it must not be auto, it is still vegging along though. the grow is in the auto threads, so I'll document it there.

I kind of stumbled on the carnitas method by accident. If you get the heat just right they fry in their own rendered fat and are delicious.
I haven't played with my sous vide circulator in a while but that sounds like a great method for the chicken. I will have to try it sometime. Thanks for sharing a great idea brother!

thats a great idea cutting your pork shoulder into strips and letting it crisp up a bit
next time we get some shoulder im going to try that
this also sounds like a good dish to try that toscino seasoning on; it would be crispy, sweet and fatty!
we usually put the shoulder or butt into the crock pot and finish it off in the oven
i dont deep fry my carnitas but we do shred it then put it under the broiler for a few minutes to crisp it up
that might work for your sous vide chickens rocker, giving them a little browning and crispness
yeah, i think autos grow too fast to benefit from being topped, but bending them should do about the same thing
i think for this one im going to let her just grow straight and tall
plus it will be a cool pic to have that one main cola top
man, that rice sounds great have i asked you for the recipe yet?

i usually go about 20% coco coir for most plants
if im mixing up baby food, i will go about 50/50, but for the bigger girls the coco is just to loosen the mix up
you arent joking about walking into a pot store for the first time being almost unreal
it was like being a kid again, plus they usually smell dank!
plus, being cool helps helps and they are often extra generous once they find out you know what you are talking about

hope everyone is having a great week

Good afternoon pop.
Give the carnitas method a try brother. You want just enough heat to get the fat to render and sizzle without browning too fast. It takes some time to get them crispy, kind of like getting the chicken skin crispy without burning it.
A few minutes in the broiler is a great way to get some color and crispness on something.
I don't really have a recipe or do much measuring for the Puerto Rican rice but there are a lot of good recipes out there. I just make sure to use the Goya sazon seasoning, onions garlic canned pigeon peas and green olives soffritto and chicken broth to cook it in.

Damn you guys are making me hungry. Lol no fancy carnitas here just scrambled eggs and French toast. It's the kids idea. They love to help, so it's always a huge mess.

Hope you guys have a good evening.

Good afternoon Packerfan.
I love breakfast for dinner! Just what the doctor ordered.

You certainly deserve a great summe vacation brother. Keep busting ass and it will happen. Tahiti sounds great! I'm sure it's more complicated and takes more planning with a family but you just have to make it happen.

I went to a game when the Brewers were in town, I was thinking of you, I always think of people associated with teams, it's a fun way to view sports. I also was thinking of you recently as I was listening to the Dead channel on Sirius radio on my way home from work, they were playing the last Dead show at Red Rocks Amphitheater , 22 years ago yesterday, 8-13-87. I have been listening to them a lot this summer, just great mellow tunes. I always had them around, friends would play them etc, but I was never a big fan in my youth, but I was lucky to see them at the US festival in 82, Breakfast with the dead, it was great, I had some shrooms and just danced the day away. Anyway I might have to go back to Boulder next summer if they play folsom field again.

I love my Sous Vide, my kids gave me silicone pouches for it, and I go to costco get beef, chicken or pork cook it all up and freeze em, just pull out what I need as I go. Chicken is the best because it so versatile, IMO.

Why is it I always get hungry on this forum, things that make you go HMMM?

i hear you about the bummers of summer
the crowds havent been that bad this year and lucky its been kind of cooler here by the coast
that is great that you are planning a vacation for just the mrs and yourself
its nice to get some together time

i will be sure to try it out next time i am going to make pork shoulder
/who can resist crispy pork meat
im pretty sure i have the goya sazon seasoning here in the house, it has good flavor and is an easy way to dress up a dish
i am also diggin on their adobo seasoning right now, it has a few things in it and im mostly using it like a seasoning salt
looks like my friend is going away for a few weeks later this summer/ early fall
last time he went away we would stop by his place a few times a week to water the plants and check on his house
im hoping he dosent miss the harvest of the blanc jaques, they should be on like week 4-5 this week and i cant wait to check them out this friday

hope everyone is having a great day and an even better summer!

Now your talking! I don't have kids so it's hard for me to know how it is but I get sick of other people's kids pretty easily and I'd think if I had some I'd need some breaks from time to time.

The Brewers always seem to have a tough time on the west coast road trips. The time change and the fact that it's usually a 3 team road trip make things difficult for them. I don't remember a lot of details but I know the young talent in SD left an impression on me. You guys are going to give the rest of the west a run for their money in a year or two I thinks.
The dead loved red rocks! 1987 was a great year for them too. I'd say 87' is right behind 72' and 77' for them in my book and some of the most rocking versions of their tunes came from that year. I have an app called relisten that has all the shows that we have audio for (2057 concerts). I very day when I work out I pick a show from that day and month in history and listen to some of it. I was actually listening to that show (8/13/87) a couple days ago and really enjoyed it a lot. Listening to daily shows from all the years really helps keep it fresh and keeps me from getting stuck in the same era all the time.
I was a fan in my young teens but as I got to my mid teens I got more into the metal and punk that was so popular with us angry kids back then and lost my love for the dead. It was many years before I rediscovered them. After all those years I heard box of rain and it all came back to me and I haven't been able to get enough since.
If you come to Boulder next year I will see you there and we can puff down a big joint for sure brother!

The sazon seasoning is the stuff that comes in the little packets. It's got a great flavor and gives a nice red/orange color to things. I've been using it on chicken and pork chops before grilling in addition to the rice. The achiote pepper in it gives it a really unique flavor that is addictive. Your so right about the adobo seasoning too. Love that stuff.
That is nice of you to take care of your buddy's plants while he is gone. It would be a bummer if he were gone during harvest! If I remember correctly he dosent puff am I right? I'm sure you will take good care of it and should be able to find something to do with the flower LOl.

Fiddy Yep, I too went metal/grunge and angry rock in my 20's but my mellow So.Cal roots have come back with my birthdays stacking up, lol. The Dead Channel, does what you do, they have a show called this day in Dead history and they play a show from that date, last night was a show from 74.

I think I mentioned 2 years ago I broke out my turntable and have been collecting Vinyl again, I picked up "In the Wake of Flood" a new reissue and I love it, play it constantly, love the song "Weather Report Suite" what a great jam.
Also I am going to try and do the pork Shoulder Carnitas, not sure when but I love Carnitas, so I gotta try to make some.

Yep, teenage angst is a powerful thing. Powerful enough to distract us from the best music ever made in my opinion. But maybe it's meant to be, and if anything, the bond with the music is now stronger than ever, perhaps because of the round about path taken.
That show of the day is a great way to keep things fresh and not get in a rut with a lot of performances from the same era. As we know the music evolved (and sometimes devolved) so much that i could never get sick of it.
The one thing I don't have is any of the dead on vinyl. As a kid I listened to 'blues for Allah' and 'in the dark' because my parents had those albums. I knew every pop and crackle on them. But I have know idea what happened to them and I haven't done any collecting. But someday I will find some old vinyl and start my collection.
If you ever want to check out a particular show archive.org has them all stream or download for free brother.

I almost forgot that they were your girls and he is just hosting. That's so cool of him. That's great you have know him for so long and are still great friends. I'm sure he appreciates having a jar of some nice home grown to share with his buddy's.
Does he like edibles? My wife recently had half a medicated Carmel that I had and she had a great experience. She dosent like smoking anymore but seems to do better with edibles. I'm kind of the opposite of that. I get too high and sleepy with the edibles.
I think your right this is the third year he hosted plants.
I love that achiote. Your right that color is intense!
I hope your week is wrapping up nicely and you've got a great weekend on tap. My bro and I are going up to the cabin on Sunday to say goodbye and bring the boat back down.

Update and pics

Greetings friends.
I was home at lights off and got a few pics of the cobra lips I'm flowering out. They are now at the end of week 4. So far so good on this flower cycle. They are starting to get a bit of frost and some reek to them too!

Hey pop
You asked about supporting the plant here's a few shots underneath at week 2 of flower on bangi haze. I femmed her early since I wanted a lot of clones.
I put a screen horizontally in early spring and trained up into it. Then 18 inches up you may be able to see the netting. She's getting little buds hope I keep her happy till October. That yellow is her natural color.:tiphat:

Yeah that's the hay pop. I won't likely use it again. I was picking up milk and grabbed a bale. It's one of those leave the money in a can places for neighbors. I'll go cypress next year or beat the mowers to the horsetail. Now I know where the patch is and when they mow.
