FFOF too hot for seedlings?

Ive got some soma's lav. in 16oz cups of straight ocean forest.

they seem like its too hot for them, although last watering i pulled the pH down to 6.2 which seemed to help

i have done seedlings in this medium before and watered with distilled 7.0 water and had no problem

the soils supposedly pH adjusted to 6.2-6.6

I always put seedlings into ffof and never had a problem. Different strains will have different tolerances though so it could potentially burn.

It depends, not all seedlings can handle it...... the strain has a lot to do with it.Better to be safe than sorry.

I will defiantly agree with bensittin.....I would remove the seedlings if they are showing signs of issues.
That soil is rich and I would not put any plants in that mixture until at least 2 weeks old and has around 3 to 4 sets of leaves.

I have never had a problem but have heard some stories, just trying cutting it with some light warrior next time.

Oh doodm get them out of that soil man.... your best bet is washing some of the soil out and putting them into new... they are still seedlings.. cause if you do not do this or some other method... they will die..... I don't even know if they can recover they are burned ......

Most of the time when they get damaged like this they stunt and just do not grow........

do not use this mixture for them... use a seed starter mixture to be safe then transplant into FFOF soil a little over 2 weeks in as long as they got 3 sets of leaves.

I've had really, really, really great results with a 50% / 50% mix of FFOF and an organic seed starter mix. Newly germinated seeds just take right off and within 2 weeks I gotta transplant outta the 16 oz. cups cuz the roots have filled every sq. inch.

its hard to get supplies out of season around here

i managed to pick up some hyponex potting soil (hypnum peat, forest products and/or compost, sand and perlite) which has no NPK rating

i also picked up some extra perlite.... but, i didnt notice that the Miracle Gro perlite is enriched with MG plant food.... DOH!

the perlite seems fairly mild .04-.01-.06 (NPK)

would this mix of hyponex and MG perlite be OK for the damaged seedlings? (i realize they may not come back)

..or would i be better off using the un-amended hyponex potting soil?

with the low amount of perlite you will be adding they will be alright. but just do not add a whole lot; I know hyponix has some perlite just not a whole lot.

hyponix is pretty much top soil does not have much of anything in it. I used it as a dilute mg soil added with bone and blood meal perlite and dolomite lime mixture when I was growing soil.

I was pretty pissed when I could not find it no more :(
so the perlite with mg food is actually ok since you are using hyponix... has hardly anything in there; it's not going to be very strong because you are not going to add a whole lot. So ya go ahead :)
